Well, a ZedneWeb update isn't the only long-awaited event that has finally arrived:
Mononoke Hime is out in theatres! (Going under the name Princess
Mononoke, which gives the unfortunate impression that the princess's name is
Mononoke. The Mononoke Princess might have been better. Oh well.) The reaction
has been highly positive, as evidenced by the reviews from
Newsweek's special section on the
37th New York Film Festival,
New York Times (registration required), and
Ebert has also posted a rare interview with Miyazaki,
the director, and an article discussing the
appeal of anime.
For a more "insider" view, you can check out EX Magazine's
or their older review of the Japanese version.
If this movie is even half as good as I hear, it will be well worth the effort it takes
to see it--which is fortunate, since it isn't playing anywhere near me.
