Andelia's Pattern-sword Morgmarach (`Golden-black death') was a gift from her mother Darthene before Andelia was sent away from Avalon before the destruction of that realm. It is a long slender-bladed estoc or piercing sword, with a narrow flattened diamond cross-section double-edged blade that's about 44"/115 cm long and a grip that's sized to fit two hands on it, though the blade's light enough to be used one handed if that's better in the current situation. It can be used to cut or slash as well as pierce, though it's design is optimized to punch through heavy armor in a lunge with the point.
Morgmarach is rather unusual in appearance for a sword, with a blade that's all but black in darkness but that flashes brightly in the light. This effect is created by the golden colored threads of metal that run the length of the blade, twining and twisting around the black metal that makes up the majority of the blade's surface. The quillons are bright golden, inset with black onyx, as is the faceted ball pommel that balances the blade. The hilt is covered in black leather, wrapped with a crossing pattern of golden wire to give a sure grip.
