Summer haul

More books. More reading is not yet happening, but I have hope. This particular set is quite random, mostly an excuse to pad out an order since My Real Children came out.

Anthony Doerr — All the Light We Cannot See (mainstream)
Leslie Jamison — The Empathy Exams (non-fiction)
Dava Sobel — Longitude (non-fiction)
Gore Vidal — Julian (historical)
Jo Walton — My Real Children (sff)
Markus Zusak — The Book Thief (sff, sort of)

My immediate inclination is to mark any book in which Death appears as a literal character as at least fantasy, but The Book Thief comes out of the mainstream genre, so we'll see what I think about the genre after reading it.
