Best of 2015

After two years of hiatus (due to not getting enough books to make it difficult to tell what I liked the most), I decided it's time to return to this compilation of what I Strongly Recommended in the course of the year. But rather than split it up by month as I used to do, I'm going to split it by the categories I use in the reviews themselves.

Other Media

Mostly movies and TV shows, but really anything I felt like reviewing that was at least kind of related to comics but wasn't static images. Also includes print novels, sometimes. Yeah, there's some vague boundaries here. And I didn't always review TV shows or movies, especially movies that came out near the start of the month.

  • Ant-Man - Marvel
  • Lego DC Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League - DC
  • Lego DC Super Heroes Justice League: Attack of the Legion of Doom - DC
Digital Content

Primarily or initially delivered online, but not counting things like Netflix's Daredevil or Jessica Jones (like I said, vague boundaries). Two of the things listed here got print editions as well (although despite ordering all four volumes of Gronk through my shop, Diamond has yet to deliver any).

  • Atomic Robo and the Ring of Fire - AtomicRobo.com (Wegener and Clevinger)
  • The Trial of Atomic Robo - AtomicRobo.com (Wegener and Clevinger)
  • Gronk: A Monster's Story vol 1 - Action Lab (Katie Cook)
Trades and Collections

While my local shop is pretty good, I got all of these online, not wanting to trust Diamond.

  • The Courageous Princess vol 3 - Antarctic Press (Rod Espinosa)
  • Last of the Sandwalkers - :01 First Second (Jay Hosler)
  • The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage - Pantheon Books (Sydney Padua)
Floppies

Traditional comic book format. I think there's a pretty clear winner for my favorite monthly comic of 2015.

  • Invader Zim #1, #2 - Oni (Vasquez and Alexovich)
  • Ms. Marvel #18, #19 - Marvel (Wilson and Alphona)
  • My Little Pony Friends Forever #20 - IDW (Mebberson, Hickey, Whitley)
  • Transformers More than Meets the Eye #38, #39, #40, #43, #46, #47 - IDW (James Roberts, various artists)
  • Atomic Robo: the Ring of Fire #4 (of 5)
