The Best Comic Books Dave Read In 2007

This page collects all of the books I gave a rating of "Strongly Recommended" or better to come out during 2007. Books which I Strongly Recommended to limited groups are generally not included, but those with mature readers caveats are. You may notice some "Books of Note" aren't mentioned here, because they were notable for reasons other than necessarily being really good (i.e. an intriguing idea with iffy execution). Boldfaced books got a rating higher than Strongly Recommended.

So, here it is, broken down by month. Be warned that this reflects my reading habits, there may well have been some excellent titles out there I didn't read for whatever reason. Sometimes I forgot to note the artist, and didn't really feel like digging it up. :) In those cases, I'll say "and ??", otherwise it's a single creator doing writing and art.

Publisher count:     Writer count (with more than 1):     Marvel still did pretty well, despite Quesada's concerted efforts to drive away everything good and happy in the world. DC held steady, although most of their main-imprint stuff was Blue Beetle. Dork Storm vanished, in part because PS238 moved to Do Gooder. Red 5 burst onto the scene...I only read 4 comics by them in 2007, but three were Strongly Recommended and the other was still a Book of Note (MidKnight #1). I got a lot of Silent Devil despite Diamond, which liked to do things like cancel their books on the grounds that the publisher had cancelled them...when the publisher did no such thing. Oh, and John Rogers rocks. So does Adam Warren, but Rogers rocks on a monthly schedule more often. :) I'm going to call "Book of the year" a tie, though, between Blue Beetle and Atomic Robo...Atomic Robo may be a little better, but Blue Beetle's shown it has stamina.
