Dave's Lego Rant: Bohrok Va Pahrak Va - Stone Tahrok Va - Fire Nuhvok Va - Earth Lehvak Va - Air Kohrak Va - Ice Gahlok Va - Water These are the little guys who partner with the evil Bohrok just as the Turaga pair with the Toa heroes, or maybe the Tohunga (if nothing else, they have Tohunga feet). Found them at Meijer in those "drop down" displays. There's combined modes made from three each, but no instructions (the instructions may be on Lego.com, but the site is now so full of cruft that my download times are too long to want to search the site much). CAPSULES Bohrok Va: With the exception of neck length variation (a 2 peg or a 3 peg) and a little difference on Gahlok Va, these are pretty much the same toys with different heads and tools. They're a little better than the Turaga in my opinion, and come with a random Krana mask. Recommended. $2.99 at Meijer. RANTS General Form: Each figure is about 3.5" (9cm) tall depending on how you pose them, and made from the colors of their Bohrok counterparts and their appropriate Toa enemies. Each has a Bohrok claw for a head, and the same fang pieces as the Bohroks. Many have the same weapons as either the Toa or Turaga of their color. On each, the right arm is hooked to a Krana carrier, so when you pull the arm down the carrier comes up to let the Krana look over their shoulders (the Bohrok Va heads usually get in the way of launching the Krana). The other arm is free to move on a swivel, and usually holds a tool or weapon. The figures bend at the waist and can swivel some at the waist depending on how much they're bent (when standing straight up, all but Gahlok Va have no hip swivel). Each has Tohunga feet, which swivel sideways at the joint but are otherwise not poseable. The neck bobs up and down on a swivel, and the head is connected via a ball joint, for a surprising amount of poseability. In fact, you can almost fold the Va's up into balls like their big brothers. The Krana launch nicely when you tuck the Vas' heads all the way down. Because of the poseability, all six Bohrok Va can fit back into their boxes once assembled, and probably fit into the Bohrok cannisters with the egg-mode Bohrok (something I will comment on once I get some Bohrok). As with the Turaga, the instructions are a single sheet with instructions on one side and miniposters of the big guy and little guy together for each element. The back of each box has fairly clear pictures of the combined Bohrok Va. The Krana masks are rubbery but fit snugly on Toa and Turaga faces. They sit loosely in their holders on the Bohrok Va, since they have to be launchable. But this means they tend to fall off the backpacks. The Krana colors given in Bionicle #4 (the comic) do not match the colors I got here, which means either the comic is wrong, or the Bohrok and Bohrok Va have different colors for more collectibility (sigh). [Late Note: Yep, the Bohrok and Bohrok Va have different Krana colors, so there's 12 total colors for each of the 8 molds.] Pahrak Va: This is the Stone Bohrok Va in brown, light tan and black, with transparent green fangs. He carries Whenua's hammer as his weapon, and his face is Pahrak's claw. Thie claw is symmetric and has holes in the proper places to be normal eyes for Pahrak Va. The Krana for this guy are light tan, I got the Clearance Krana. Tahrok Va: The Fire Bohrok Va is black, yellow and red, with clear blue fangs. He carries Vakama's fire staff and has Tahrok's flame claw for a face. The claw has its "eyes" in a vertical arrangement rather than the usual horizontal one. The fire Krana are yellow, I got the Mole Krana (which I presume is the "hidden enemy within the ranks" kind of mole rather than the "digging in the dirt" mole). Nuhvok Va: The Earth Bohrok Va is black and grey with transparent yellow-green fangs. He has Onua's claws for hands, and Nuhvok Va's claw for a head. It is symmetrical and looks like it has five eyes, kinda creepy and spider-like. The Earth Krana are black, I got the Swarm Commander one. Lehvak Va: The Air Bohrok Va is black, green and yellow-green with clear red fangs. It carries a pair of katanas, and Lehvak's claw for a head. This claw is asymmetric and very claw-shaped, with a cyclopean eye thing (well, two eyes vertically arranged, but one is bigger than the other). The Air Krana are gray, and I got the Surveyor Krana. Kohrak Va: The Ice Bohrok Va is black and white with clear pale blue fangs. His hands are icepick pieces I have not seen before, and the head is Kohrak's buzzsaw hand, which is purely cyclopean. The Ice Krana are white, I got the Squad Leader one. Gahlok Va: The Water Bohrok Va is blue, light blue and black with clear orange-red fangs. Her left arm (I'm guessing Gahlok Va follows the pattern of the Toas and Turagas, with water being the token female) is one of Gali's claws, and her head one of Gahlok's claws. The head looks like a tailless horseshoe crab and is essentially one-eyed. Gahlok Va is unique among the Bohrok Va in having a different sort of waist joint that lets her stand up taller and straighter than the others, and gives her more poseability at the waist. The Water Krana are purple, I got another Mole. Just like with the Toa, the triple-threat combiners are formed from Earth/Fire/Stone and Air/Ice/Water trios. I may amend this review if I get the instructions and bother to build 'em. Dave Van Domelen, hoping to see Bohroks in stores soon, but knows they can be bought on lego.com....
