Wonkimus Major's Titanium Guest Review Menasor (convention exclusive) Permalink: http://www.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/Artifacts/6TiX1 This is a convention exclusive recolor of Rodimus Prime, original review at http://www.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/Artifacts/6Titanium4 (I had several chances to buy this online, but passed). Guest review by Wonkimus Major Mildly recommended if you can find this at a reasonable price. 2200 Yen at Bic Camera Store. DECEPTICON: MENASOR Special Feature: Cyclone Gun generates winds equal to an F5 tornado. Experimental mechanics may have successfully unified the gestalt frame of MENASOR into a whole physical creature, but no level of shell programming or kernal restructuring has been able to modify his fractured mind. Constructed from the bodies of the five DECEPTICON warriors who once combined to form him, he is nearly indestructible. He is the ultimate in state-of- the-art destructive capabilities, driven by an almost mindless rage at the psychic agony that constantly torments him. The dominant personality within him is that of the former leader of the Stunticons, Motormaster. Hated by his teammates, he nevertheless exercised an iron-fisted control over the team - a control that slipped only once the five found themselves unified in MENASOR. Even now, hardwired into the command network of the new body, he withstands a constant mental assault from the suppressed personalities of his four underlings. As a result, MENASOR, who should be the ultimate weapon, is little more than a destructive monster, incapable of following a plan, and desirous of nothing more than to smash everything around him. STR 10 INT 3 SPD 2 END 9 RNK 5 COUR 9 FRB 9 SKL 6 Avg 6.625 The large Titanium figures were recently released in Japan. The selection includes Starscream, Sunstorm, War Within Ultra Magnus, Megatron, The Fallen, and Menasor. Those are the only ones I've seen, at any rate. I wasn't really planning to buy Menasor, but when I saw a huge stack of what was a convention exclusive in the US, I couldn't resist. The pile of Menasors at the Bic Camera store in Ikebukuro was enormous--just like Comicon, just without all the grabbing! Dave's already reviewed Rodimus Prime, which this figure is a repaint of, so there's no need to go over the toy itself. It looks like the paint mask has not been changed. The toy is primarily black, with gray thighs, shins, feet, hands, spoiler, face, and flame deco. The "collar", headlights, windshield, and a few other details are purple. Despite the changes, this figure just doesn't scream "Menasor" to me. I've got the feeling they would've named this Motormaster, but Hasbro doesn't have the name available. Also, the Stunticons were based on real vehicles, and this is a fantasy futuristic vehicle. I realize that since this is a convention exclusive there isn't a whole lot of money to make changes from the original figure, but they could at least have changed the flame deco to make him look less like Rodimus. To me, this just looks like an evil "Nemesis" Rodimus, or maybe Rodimus when he had the hate plague in "The Return of Optimus Prime". (Not that he has the same colors, but just the evil vibe.)
