Cassie - Wednesday, February 09, 2000, 10:09 PM
--------------------------------------------

The window to Cassie and Cissie's room is ever so slightly ajar, as one Cassandra Elizabeth Sandsmark gazes out at it. /Busted/. While her grades are /indeed/ climbing, her mom came to visit and /she/ wasn't /there/ one /weekday/ even. Maaaan. Trapped in her room, the teenage super heroine can only gaze out, and wonder what /cool/ and /exciting/ things are happening right now. She just /bets/ Bart and Superboy and Robin are meeting up with the JLA, or cutting down the nasty DEOs.. (Not that she knows what the heck is going on, just what she's picked up from the Martian Manhunter.) Thus, with a snort and a sigh, Cassie remains by the window, Cissie studying, or duly /gone/ for awhile, leaving Wonder Girl to sit, stare out the window, and mope.

And since Cassie-o is by the window, there's absolutely no need for Bart to throw pebbles. Nerd that he is, he's a little disappointed by this, but hey - not too badly! He gets to see Cass that much sooner. The teenager just sort of...appeared in the yard and started silently waving, trying to catch her attention. After a few seconds, he stops, rocking back on his heels and clasping his hands behind his back. He eyes the window in question for signs of acknowledgement, then grins, waiting. He's not gonna be dumb and call attention to himself by, oh, I don't know, whistling or anything. This time around, he's not gonna risk jumping in the window and getting caught or anything, either, not with the DEO breathing down his neck.

Eww, DEO breathing down your neck? Lets not have Cassie suddenly dart out then, and flit down to the boy shall we? Instead, this is just your adorable, cute scene, (for those DEOs that might be watching) in which a nice boy, happens to call upon his girlfriend. With her gaze staring up into the stars, Cassie's a bit addle brained right now, trying to plot how she can escape this prison and /help/ TMS, rather than wait by the phone for her /mom/ to call, and insure that she's like /there/ and all. *Grumble*. Well, just about ready to turn away from the window, the slight motion below catches her attention, with a quirked brow, Cassie's eyes scan the ground below, shifting through the shadows until.. With a quick wave, the fair Juliet err.. wait.. Cassie indeed does acknowledge that she sees her Romeo..err.. Bart.

That darned DEO! Not only do they have to give Secret all kinds of problems, they also have goons tailing Our Heroes - got Bart looking behind every corner, now, they have. He steps up a little closer to the window, reaching up to scratch his nose and pondering how to handle this. His identity is public, but if he gets caught in Cassie's school there'll be hell to pay from the mundanes. Cassie's isn't - it can only be assumed the DEO knows who she is, but her classmates presumably don't, so they have one up on her. Besides the fact that Bart suspects the government agents aren't above doing some fairly underhanded things to the Near and Dear, so Cassie really can't risk coming outside. Oh, jeez, ponder ponder. The Teenaged Tornado frowns, then brightens slightly and holds up a finger, disappearing.

Not really knowing what is going on, given the extent that she's been forced to remain close to the school during the weekdays, Cassie is not really that knowledgable on what has transpired with Secret and the DEO. Instead, she can only part her mouth, then close it again, wondering why on earth Bart just didn't zip up to it. Furrowing her brows together, Cassie mutely nods to the 'one moment' universal sign, knowing indeed it will only /be/ a moment given that it's Bart. With that, she just waits. (And hey, they have one up on /her/ as well, for she has no idea that the secret government agency would know her secret identity. Something that she's tried her hardest to keep /a/ secret.)

God only knows how creepy government types find that stuff out - they probably have all kinds of voiceprinting things and DNA tests and detective types looking to find these things out. They probably know who /Robin/ is, for godsake. But however it is, it can't hurt to overestimate their knowledge - makes you more wary. Bart returns, carrying a paper airplane which he carefully, wryly sets loose, off towards Cassie's window. It seems extrordinarily well-made, and well-weighted: catching a few updrafts, it sails straight for her.

Truly a frightening experience when you think about it; why they knew after all, every single one of J'Onn's secret identities! Or, will, eventually, or something. With any case, Cassie probably doesn't have long to wait before that extremely well made paper airplane catches an updraft and is soon flitting towards her window. Leaning out of her window, while there are those that it might appear she's leaning dangerously close to falling, her feet are simply floating on the ground (hidden from view by the wall itself). Snagging the airplane, Cassie draws it close, scanning the device, brows finding themselves still knitting together in confusion.

Not much of a device - really just a well-balanced paper airplane. Once unfolded, you can see it's got writing all over it - Bart's slightly scrawly but legible hand. Once completely unfolded, something drops out - is it...something romantic? No, just practical: metro card for the Metropolis train system, looks like. Probably added for ballast, no? The note says, quite succinctly: 'They know about the Secret, and I think they -almost- have proof. They're after us. Burn this note and scatter the ashes, and keep the card - you're gonna need it. Watch the shadows.' There're a couple of scribbled out lines, some rather darkly, then a defiant, 'Love you' at the bottom.

As Cassie carefully unfolds the airplane, she pauses before reading to pluck up the card. Examining it carefully, before stuffing it into her pocket, her gaze finally centers on Bart's scrawled writing. Standing there, before the window, with the light of her bedroom shining through, Cassie's expression shifts from idly curiosity, to a serious scowl. The very corners of her lips curve down, expression falling fast, and turning dark. One hand lifts up and through her short curls of platinum, before she turns, offering that universal 'one moment' sign as well. A few seconds later, having not quite the genius ability to create airplanes, a crumbled wad of paper is tossed perfectly towards you. (She wasn't the star pitcher for her girl's baseball team for /nothing/.)

Upon opening, her own, scribbled writing simply states; Notes taken, thanks for the tip, good luck, love Cass. While above, a metal wastebasket is used to its best, as a slight puff of smoke escapes the window, and the letter is duly turned to ash.

Bart Allen, on the other hand, since there's nothing incriminating in Cassie's letter, sticks it in his back pocket. He smiles a little darkly, then realises he's smiling darkly and smirks, shaking his head. He steps precisely into the light from Cassie's window and tosses off a salute that somehow morphs into blowing a kiss, then mimes pulling a cloak up in front of his face and steps back into the shadows. Less than a second later, there's no trace of him save the faint settling of some yard debris from his wake.
