They're on their way from Titans Island - a marvel in and of itself - to the much larger island of Manhattan. Jesse and Sandy, that is. And you've never seen a kid quite as completely and totally awed as Sandy is right now. In fact, the look on his face is a little more than awe: it's a mixture of amazement, disappointment, uneasiness, and a *little* bit of fear. This is New York - but it's not his anymore. The streets are almost speaking a different language. His voice is quiet and reverent, "Jesse - are you tired at all, or can we tour a bit before we go uptown?" Its been a while since she's been here. She was born in Queens afterall. To her even it looks different and now she has to wonder if she's in the right place and time. Maybe she's not as home as she thought she was. Jesse blinks and flicks her gaze to Sandy, "Oh like sure.. we can look about.." Strange gusts of wind bring strange tidings. Blurs of red, yellow and blue streak across the sky in mad spirals, casting mighty, blustery gusts down on the streets below. "HoleyMoley!WhatHappenedtoNewYorkCity?!" comes a cry echoing from above. Whirring down like a primary color dervish, the Boy of Steel makes his descent towards street level, barely stopping before crashing into a newspaper cart just ahead of Jesse and Sand. He looks around, bewildered. Sandy: Tallish, on his way to manhood but not nearly there yet, Sandy Hawkins is the 'All-American Kid'. His touseled blond curls frame a sweet, boyish face, with bright blue eyes and a slightly snubbed, lightly freckled nose. The only thing that seems out of place on the fifteen-year-old's features is his expression: it's one of distance. The corner of his mouth is quirked up in a sort of half-afraid, half-bemused way; his eyes betray a bewilderment that his words would never even have you guess at. The kid's wearing a pair of new bluejeans, brand new hightop sneakers, and a white button-down oxford shirt (collar open two buttons, untucked, undershirt showing underneath). Over it all is a yellow jacket with a red collar that has embroidered on the back, 'Young All-Stars'. Jesse Belle: Standing here is a girl about 14 years old. She has what some would call an all-American attractiveness. Lithely built, Jesse seems to be still growing into her legs. Long hair, the color of bright sunshine, falls to the middle of her back. Its not contained at all being that she has it pulled into a pair of long pig tails. Her blue eyes are filled with curiousity and passion, they are wide and bright. Her mouth is almost perpetually set in a gamine grin. Jesse is dressed for school, wearing a simple blue plaid skirt that falls to about her knees and a white blouse with a peter pan collar. On her blouse's pocket there is a crest of St. Anne's. White knee-socks and a pair of rather scuffed penny loafers finish the outfit. Superboy: Standing at five feet and eight inches in height is a marvel of a lad. He could be no older than sixteen and yet he is as a fine physical specimen as many weight-lifters are at the peak of their careers. His deep black hair is swept back without a stray hair save for a well-groomed spitcurl that spills forward over his forehead. He's a clean cut boy, wholesome and innocent. His vibrant blue eyes beam with wonder. His pert nose and slight mouth exude wholesome charm. A short red cape calls back from the youngster's shoulders. His frame is incredibly thin --- and perhaps even a bit lanky --- but it's clear from his bulging muscles that this is a Boy of Steel. He is clad in a form-fitting blue top which stretches over his muscular arms, leaving his hands bare. A small upside down, red pentagon points downward, is centered on his chest. The symbolic shield contains the letter 'S' cast in radiant red atop a yellow background. A yellow belt with a round buckle supports modest red trunks about his waist before skin-tight blue fabric resumes, covering his trim thighs and calves before his red boots dip down in a "V" over his shins. Sandy steps in front of Jesse protectively, eyes narrowing. "Believe you me, brother, that's a question I've asked myself a lot today. But would you mind doing a little less plummetting into the streets and almost hitting innocent newspaper carts, and maybe a little more explaining why you're wearing Superman's costume? I've already run into one today, and he didn't look normal either, but at least he wasn't some kid." He looks every inch a Young All-Star, even out of costume. Jesse Belle arches her eyebrows and hrms, "We saw Superman... ohmigosh! Do you think maybe he got deaged and junk?" She's used to weird superhero type stuff. Always possible. She tilts her head to peer around Sandy at the boy in blue. The blond blinks a few times and mentally wows. The Boy of Steel turns to Jesse and Sandy and raises an eyebrow. "SuperMAN...? B-But if I'm just a few years in the future then how come you can see me? I'm supposed to be transparent and invisible when I'm in two places at once unless... Something must have happened to the future me! But I didn't cross the time barrier." He raises a hand to his brow and finally smiles. "Hello there!" Superboy descends down to street level and walks over to greet Jesse and Sandy. "You must be from the Legion of Super-Heroes. I don't believe I've met you two yet." Sandy glancing at Jesse, Sandy raises his eyebrows. "Um," he says. Now, he's used to lots and lots of action. The occasional charity banquet, maybe, or long-running mystery, but this external internal monologue thing? It's completely and utterly baffling. "Um," he repeats, then continues, "is he nuts? You think? What the good gravy's he talkin' about?" Then the kid addresses them, and Sandy blinks once more. "I...honestly have no idea what you're talking about. No one's crossed any time barriers, it's something else that's happened to us all. Who are you and what's a Legion of Superheroes?" A beat. "What's a superhero?" Jesse Belle just shakes her head and lets Sandy deal with it. She doesn't get it at all... sides she just sort of wants to well watch um. Superman.. in like Miniature. A Superboy? Who'd ever hear of such a thing. He's like sort of really well dreamy. Jesse Belle just shakes her head and lets Sandy deal with it. She doesn't get it at all... sides she just sort of wants to well watch um. Superman.. in like Miniature. A Superboy? Who'd ever hear of such a thing. He's like sort of really well dreamy. She blinks back to Sandy, "He can't be crazy.. he's got the shield on.. and. he flies.. maybe he's from somewhere else like you?" The Boy of Steel raises an eyebrow at Sandy, retracting his handshake in utter shock. "You know who Superman is but you don't know what a superhero is? Golly, fella, you're not from around here..." Superboy looks around in amazement again. "Then again, maybe I'm not either..." He smiles at last and returns his offer of a handshake. "I'm Superboy. SuperMAN is who I'll be when I've grown into an adult. Have you met me before?" The paradox is evident and yet, it doesn't seem to phase the Boy of Tomorroe. By the gods...this world is not so different from home... Wonder Girl currently glides on the currents of air that circulate throughout the city, taking in the sights, wondering what everything means. Truth be told? She fled the tower after doing a bit of...exploring. And some of the things she found were unsettling to say the least. But still, this isn't her time. Isn't her era. And she is still not exactly sure 'when' it is. Maybe Robin or Kid Flash will have figured that out. And where are Speedy? Aqualad? She sighs and casts her gaze down below to...hey, wait a minute. Isn't that the girl from the Tower and Golden Boy? But who's that with them? And so the curious girl varies her course to come to land behind the group. Outside of her friends, the only other people she remotely knows in this city. Wonder Girl: The young girl seems to be somewhere in her early to mid teens and exudes the youth and energy to match the flush of adolesence. Her long dark hair is pulled from her face by a ponytail that still falls just below her shoulders, the darkness of the tresses sharply contrast with the smooth paleness of her skin tone. Her features are classically European and hint at the threshold of womanhood. Sapphire eyes are alight with an intelligence and wonder clear to their very depths. She is currently attired in a uniform that looks strikingly familiar to anyone who has seen the famed heroine Wonder Woman. Her shirt is a deep crimson and embroided in bright gold along the edges. The emblem of a golden eagle with outstretched wings adorns the front of it. A pair of shorter shorts are a dark blue with a sprinkling of stars across the material. A pair of leather sandals are laced up her ankles and past her calves in a criss-crossing pattern while around her wrists are a matching pair of metal bracelets. At her side is a golden lasso that appears to have been spun from the very precious metal it so keenly resembles. Sandy finally takes the hand, smiling back. "All right, fair enough. I'm Sandy - Sandy the Golden Boy. And sure I know Superman, he's a mysteryman in the Justice Society, where I come from. Same as my partner the Sandman." A beat. "I haven't met you before, no." Then he steps aside and politely indicates Jesse, "This is Jesse...um..." Looking at her, Sandy blinks. "I'm sorry, you never told me anything else...I don't even know whose kid you are." Jesse Belle blinks a bit as she realizes she's now subject of conversation. She blinks, "Jesse Chambers." She folds her arms behind her back and grins trying not to get to idiotic. The blond rocks on her feet and then leans over a bit to whisper to Sandy something about, "Liberty Belle and Johnny Quick.." She just blinks at Superboy again. Wow. So really cute. The girl quickly looks away and looks about for anything again. Oh good.. its that Wonder Girl person. The one that looks just too much like Wonder Woman. Darn. However she raises up her hand and waves. The Boy of Steel blushes at Jesse's attention. "You're really sweet, Miss, but --- I sort of have my girl waiting for me back home. Assuming I can sort out just where "here" is in relation to home..." His sighs in frustration. "This doesn't feel like one of those illusions that the Phantom Zoners can cast using Jewel Kryptonite --- and I can't seem to get a consistant story on when this is supposed to be. The natives seem so confused --- and there's no sign of Krypto anywhere!" He turns his attention to Sandy. "Look, fella, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that you and the girl are caught in the same pickle that I am. Am I getting warm?" Wonder Girl doesn't intrude upon the group immediately, rather, she stands, glancing and blinking just slightly. Who is that standing with Jesse and Sandy? He wasn't at the Tower before...at least not that she ever saw. She catches Jesse's wave and returns it tentatively, but her sapphire eyes keep gravitating toward the darker haired boy. Wow, talk about a dreamboat. But..why is he dressed like Superman? "Hey Jesse..." She greets and finally moves closer to the group and nods,"Sandy." He seems to be feeling a lot better if she judges by the fact he isn't collapsed where he stands, and so she offers him a cheery smile. Then to the stranger,"I'm sorry, but I don't think I've ever seen you before...." Sandy is actually doing much better, yes. Once he's gotten used to the whole idea - and stopped getting accused of things - and had a good, long talk with Jennie-Lynn, he's really rather swank about the whole thing. "Sure, we're in the same boat. Sort of. Except I'm from nineteen-forty-three, so we're kind of not. Same general radar area, though." He waves to Donna, and grins at Jesse. "Righto. So you'll punch me if I make any 'ringing any bells' jokes, huh?" Jesse Belle turns horribly fuschia so much so she doesn't even hear Sandy's joke. Is he some sort of mind reader. She just takes a step back and looks up at the sky wishing to just die. A freaking huge bolt of deadly lightning strike her down and thus ends humiliation. Wonder Girl blinks a moment at the boy's words to Jesse and just hope there isn't a flush on her cheeks to mirror that of the poor blonde's. She opens her mouth to say something, and instead covers by turning her attention to Sandy, glancing around the area. "I don't suppose you've seen Kid Flash or Robin? Actually, I'm pretty sure Robin might be back at the Tower looking through some records, but I haven't seen Kid Flash since he left earlier," she explains, her hands on her hips comfortably. The Boy of Steel turns to face Wonder Girl with a broad grin and a salute. "Hello, Miss. I'm Superboy. You might know me better as SuperMAN in this time period if the crazy clues I've been putting together add up. But my secret laboratory has gone missing and --- and --- I shouldn't be able to materialize in this era unless something happened to the future me!" He frowns. "I'll --- I'll get in touch with all of you soon. Right now, assuming the laws of physics haven't changed on me, I need to break through the time-barrier and consult with some experts on this: The Legion of Super-Heroes. I can borrow their time bubble and take all of you home!" He adds with a look of concern. "... I hope." He smiles and offers a salute. "I'd better hurry before the time-line gets any more corrupted!" And with that he's gone in a red, yellow and blue blur up into the sky, followed by the distant cry of sonic booms! A stranger in a strange land! A mysterious being from another world! An alien that has no idea where she is, what she's doing here, and most important - why it is she has no memory of even /getting/ here! (The alien thing has been done before.) Still - the sky is so beautiful, not nearly as gorgeous as her world, but it will do in a pinch. Here, people speak so strangely, so oddly, they don't understand her, she doesn't understand them - and they have such strange rituals. Everything is covered in strange and wonderous technology, in some cases more advanced, at least seeming, and in others, so limited. Above the skyline, just over the skyscrapers, a streak of crimson flies through the air. A line of fire that circles over the top of a building, streaming down and around a slender form made up of golden skin, check, not much clothing, check, dark auburn hair, check.. unusual appearance? Check, check. Greetings mortals, any that check have just spotted a Tamaran princess. Sandy elbows Jesse. "Man, did you -see- that? I seriously think he's actually crazy, as crazy as they get. What's he talking about with all this time barrier hoodoo? Jesse?" He glances over at the girl, blinking. "Um, hey, why's your face all red?" He looks at Donna haplessly. "Superman?!" But this is said in the Boy of Steel's wake. She blinks. "Did he just say he was Superman in the future?" Donna frowns as she considers this little connundrum, shaking her head a little, half talking to herself. "Blessed Athena, that can't be possible. Superman himself was here. Surely both himself and his kid self would not have been transported." After all, for all their time at the Tower, none of the Titans have even run into whatever counterparts they must surely have here. Somewhere. Maybe she should look for references to some...or even Wonder Woman herself. Yes! She'll know what's going on. Its at this point she glances to Jesse and then to Sandy...then to Jesse again. Okay, maybe she's perhaps missed something and should go searching for Kid Flash herself and make sure Robin is where he needs to be. But unfortunately, Wally could be anywhere, and so she bides her time and shrugs her shoulders to the golden age sidekick. Jesse Belle plants her hands on her hips, "Shall we start calling you crazy cause you are from.. one of those.. whatchamajiggies.. those alternate realities.. how do we know he's not.. " She jumps back again as he comments on her blush, "Nothing! Nothing at all!" The blond facepalms and just looks away anywhere but here. She's not dead yet dammit. She just stares up at the sky again. All in all she'd rather be in Philadelphia. "Oh -- oh, right, sorry...no, I don't know where Kid Flash is. I haven't seen anyone today but you two, Jennie-Lynn, and that Superboy kid. But hey, if there's a Kid Flash, is there a Flash here too? It can't be Jay - well, maybe it is. But he never had any sidekicks or anything," starts Sandy, then confuses the hell out of himself and stops. "And no, you can't call me crazy. I mean, you know pretty much everything I've talked about, right? But I mean, this guy is all about Legions of Superheroes and time bubbles and barriers and things, AND he talks to himself." Jesse Belle taps the palm of her hand, "There is a Flash, Jay's retired. Kid Flash is the current Flash's side kick." Something she can talk about, "They aren't as cool. No nifty hat with which to thwok people on the head. But Jay seems to think they're good people. So eh.." She shrugs. Of course none of the Flashes are as cool as her Dad. Idly the girl retightens her pigtails, "I don't think he's crazy." He's just a complete and utter heartbreaker. "Okay so the talking to himself thing is a tad odd." Wonder Girl turns her head slightly, her dark ponytail swishing behind her as she does so. "Jennie-Lynn?" She turns the name over in her mind, but is sure she has never heard it before. "And who is...Jennie-Lynn, was she at the Tower?" And then she turns to Jesse and frowns slightly, feeling a bit ruffled to hear Barry badmouthed and glad at least Kid Flash isn't there to hear it. He really seemed to like the girl. "The Flash is one of the most decent, wonderful people I have ever met. He's one of the absolute best, and a member of the justice league...even without the hat," she adds with the barest hint of a smirk. She shifts slightly and glances up toward where the apparent 'Superboy' left off to and again wonders if Superman knows about him running around, whoever it is. Sandy reaches up and scratches his nose, leaning against a lamp post. "Well, she's apparently the Green Lantern's daughter. She wasn't there at the tower at the same time as everyone else, unless she was somewhere else - the Tower's big - but she wandered in this morning. I think she's still playing with the television." Unfortunately, he could care less about this weird future Flash, even though his sidekick seemed pretty neat. "And Jay isn't all that neat, Jesse. He's kind of a stiff." Jesse Belle arches her eyebrow. Jeeeez what is it with people and the Flash. You'd think there wasn't any other speedsters other than him. She murmurs, "S'not like I know the current Flash personally. I'm just commenting on the people I know. I'm sure he's a wonderful guy, anyone who puts on colors to go and right wrongs has to be among the very best humanity has to offer as a person." All Heros mean a lot to her. Just some she just adores. "I need to find a phone." Wonder Girl scratches her chin a bit. Admittedly, she isn't entirely up on all her superhero trivia. Perhaps a by product of growing up on Paradise Island, she had a rather isolated childhood, though she is certainly learning more and more everyday. "I never knew Green Lantern had a daughter...." She looks absolutely perplexed, her blue eyes widening. And then she turns to Jesse, her attention coming back to the girl and she smiles warmly, as if indicating she understands. "Understood. I didn't mean to imply you were downplaying Flash. I think the stress of this entire situation is one that is wearing." Then she glances up skyward, her eyes narrowing as if she sees something, but then she shakes her head, looking to Sandy and Jesse again. "If you like, I'm sure there's one free at the Tower for you. I noticed phones in a few of the rooms. One that even looks like maybe...I don't know...maybe Diana lives there or something. But she looks younger, a little different than I recall...." She shakes her head. Sandy blinks. "You actually know the Princess? Glory*osky*! I thought you were just dressin' up like her for fun, I dunno...she's not in the Justice League, though, she's in the Justice Society. And yeah, I didn't know he had a daughter either, not until I met her." He shakes his head, then looks over at a local hot dog stand. Then doubletakes at the prices, and decides he's not that hungry after all. "Listen - you two can go back to the tower. I'm gonna go look around the city, then go see Wes, all right?" The blond girl grins at Wonder Girl, thinking that maybe she's not so bad afterall. Stress. She gets it. "I hope so. I got lost looking for one earlier." Jesse glances at Sandy, "Y'gonna be alright with seeing him right?" She rocks on her heels a bit, "Do you want any of us to come with you?" Wonder Girl smiles and nods to Sandy. "Of course. I've known Diana all of my life," she grins. Ever since Wonder Woman saved her from the fire when she was only an infant...at least, that's how she remembers it. "Her mother, Queen Hippolyta, raised me on Paradise Island. She's...well," she pauses a moment. "Diana has always been like a sister to me." But then she pauses, her brow furrowing a bit. "The...Justice Society? I don't remember Diana mentioning anything about that. Only the Justice League," she says, wondering if that was perhaps a few years back, so maybe she wouldn't know it. Her eyes glance to Jesse and mirrors the girl's concern. "So he is here, too? Wow. Maybe Jesse is right. Are you sure we shouldn't come with you? Maybe we should all keep track of each other...just in case. Especially 'til we know what's going on, and -- " She looks down at herself. "I think I might need to get some less conspicuous clothes for back up." "Queen...Hippywhat? Okay," says Sandy dubiously, then shakes his head. "No, don't worry about it...I think I should go alone. Or maybe I should go with...I don't know, maybe your parents, Jesse. Or Jen's. Wes might need to see some people he knows really well, so he doesn't think he's having another dre- I mean, so he doesn't think he's seeing ghosts." Jesse Belle whispers, "My.. parents don't really talk anymore Sandy. I seldom see mom anymore as it is. I wouldn't want you to go there with that sort of vibe. " Idly the girl kicks at a nearby bench and instead of just hurting her foot a little, she ends up knocking it into a small pile, "Oops." "Queen Hipp-ol-yta," Wonder Girl repeats more slowly, assuming perhaps she put more of her natural Greek accent into the name than she intended. If she catches the dubiousness of Sandy's tone, she doesn't seem very concerned by it at all. "Hmm. Sure...I bet Green Latern would be someone good. I'm sure Flash would know where to find him, they're really good friends after all," and if he's there, well, surely Barry could locate him. And as Jesse whispers, she doesn't really catch most of what the girl is saying to Sanderson, but looks at the pair before her. "Oh, I'm...geez, I'm sorry, Jesse, I had no idea," flounders the Golden Boy, not knowing quite how to deal with this. "If it's any help, Wes and Dian haven't even gotten married yet, and I don't think they'll ever adopt me..." Oh, god, that was kind of miserable. Stupid, stupid boy. Finally he just gives up on it and focuses on the easier problem. "All right, Green Lantern or Jay...or maybe Starman. He's pretty neat." Jesse Belle wonders if Golden Boy even knows what a divorce is. He's from that time where they just all stayed together. She bobs her head, "S'okay Sandy. Why would you know.." She sighs, "Jay would be good probably. he's stiff but he'd understand what's going from you." Wonder Girl looks between the blonde again, listening and understanding to an extent. But she never had a father. Never had two parents together as it were. Queen Hippolyta was her mother, her mentor, and everything in between while Diana was away. She never really missed not having that aspect, but she thinks she can understand the sentiment perhaps to an extent. So, she just leaves that subject alone as she seems woefully inadequate to speak on it. And instead addresses the other issue brought forth. "Well, if you do need us...for anything Sandy...just let us know." Sandy nods, stuffing his hands back in his jacket pockets. "I sure will - and if you find out how to fix this all - you know, suddenly - and I'm not back at the Tower yet, then just give Wes a call. If no one knows his number, just ask the operator." So helpful. You don't ask the operator to connect you anymore, silly boy. He claps Jesse on the shoulder, giving her a sort of half-grin. "Keep your chin up, kiddo; you're way too nifty to be sad." Waving to Donna, too, then, he heads off northwards.
