The call has gone out from Canada's capital. Some kind of invasion has begun. One by one of the superbeings that inhabit the planet. Without the proper resources to drive back this new menace, as surely no one has ever seen the like of him in the past, the Canadian government has set in motion as many of their national defenses as possible. Tanks, armed soldiers, even helicopters have been dispatched to fight off a single man, a boy, even. The northern part of the city has already been destroyed before even the Fastest Man on Earth could hope to hear the summons, let alone respond in time to try to prevent it. As the figure slowly flies over the city, heading for the Parliament Building, red energy flies from his eyes, either produced, or directly through the goggles upon them. Below his feet, as gas mains explode and building collapse, the people are rioting, fighting both each other and the soldiers there to protect them. It is utter chaos, yet the young man at the helm of it all seems perfectly calm, even as one of the Canadian Army's heavy hitters, a massive tank, takes aim upon him, the bullets from the machine guns in the hands of the soldiers have done nothing to slow him, or even warrant his attention... Screaming at supersonic speeds, the air explodes around a hurtling lavender blur in insane bursts of fury. In an instant, however, the speeding form comes to a halt revealing a man --- but not just any man... Superman! He stands hovering in front of the Parliament Building imperiously, wearing a sombrero and poncho. He rips off his costuming in the blink of an eye. His voice booms with impossible volume. "Sorry I'm so late. The DEA required by services in Brazil several minutes ago." He turns his attention to the oncoming figure. "I'd rethink my plans if I were you, mister." Suddenly, however, as a cursory sweep of X-Ray vision carries waves of quantum information into the champion's Mind of Steel, his jaw drops. "Great Rao..." Over the horizon comes a distant humming, like something floating and moving at top speed. It's circular form and eight legs go whizzing on intercontinental mode. It's the BUG! And at the Helm, is a very familiar looking guy, Ollie. Booster sits in the other window. "Easy! This is a loner!" It moves zooming over the horizon! It's legs extended into battle mode and it seems hell bent on getting there to assist! His name is Wally West, otherwise known as the Flash. You might know him as the Fastest Man Alive. And in a moment you'll see why. Strolling with Jesse Quick, in costume, Flash is making a visit to the Flash Museum in Central City, which is a great deal of distance away from Ottawa, Canada. "It's a big decision, J," Wally says to his companion, as he brings up this topic to her out of the blue. He didn't really say why he wanted to talk to her, but he knows what's been on her mind lately. Work is a big part of it, yes, but so is her personal life. And just how much of it she wants to share with the media. "Whatever you decide, of course I'll be behind you 100%. Bart as well." Bart's made that decision and look at how it turned out for the youngest speedster. "I mean I-... hold up." Tapping his wingtip, Wally frowns, instantly, as he gets a JLA communication. "Otta-... wha'? Superman's already... right, got it. I'm there." And then looking to Jesse, Wally smiles. "Race ya' there." And then, remember what was said about him being the Fastest Man Alive? Well, in the blink of an eye Flash is in Ottawa, skidding to a stop under Superman. "One of yours, Big Blue, ours or a new one?" Booster Gold looks to the left at Green Arrow. "You're damn good at this." He nods. Tapping a few keys. He's apparently in charge of weapons. "Think we should hail big blue." He flicks on the loudspeaker. He smiles. The landscape folds under the vehicle. It's moving like a bat out of hell. "We should be on them in a few minutes." Green Arrow sighs as he looks at the Bug's controls. Thankfully most of the piloting controls are automatic, and all that he needs to touch is just like an airplane. He stars to feel a little bit of a longing for the old Arrowplane, but he's not about to tell Booster that. "I thought YOU knew how to pilot this thing... you spent enough time with Bug Boy during your time in the JLA in this jalopy, right?" he says with a bravo's grin. One moment her mouth is opening to respond towards Wally however instead of whatever words were to come she's already uttering "3X2(9YZ)4A!" And is off in a Quick second (Oh yeah.. like she'd be off in a Flash...) Definitely fortunate they were dressed for the occasion. Whether it be patrolling Keystone and Central City or crisscrossing the country into god knows what in the Great White North, red and gold is the way to go. She's there.. just less than a moment behind him. Hovering two feet above the Flash she blinks at the surroundings and the mayhem, "What... what's..caused this..." You blink, and when you open your eyes, Jay Garrick is in front of you. "Good lord. Wally, Jesse, are you holding up?" This sounds like a quick buzz to anyone other than those two and Superman, of course. With a resounding boom, the tank fires its massive shell right at the young, floating man. This sound does make the figure take notice as he turns toward the shell and a smile comes to his lips. With a slight shifting of his location, he reaches out with his right hand and catches the shell in his bare hand and a moment later it explodes. The figure doesn't flinch, just hangs in the air as the cloud of smoke that was created around him dissipates. "That was... amusing." Again his eyes flare red as a beam of energy lights up the sky and a moment later the tank explodes, raining down hot shards of iron upon the soldiers near it and killing those that are inside, as well as any within ten feet; unless a certain pair of speedsters manage to pull them out of the way in time. The boy himself, whom Clark may recognize as someone who at least appears to be Kon-El, continues along at his once more deliberate pace, energy flashing from his eyes as more and more things explode, the people of Ottawa leading him down the street as they riot around him. Superman makes no assumptions at this point but simply utters a desperate prayer that the young man before him is not who he appears to be. Whoever he is, however, he MUST be stopped. "That was amusing, huh? Well, kid, you'd better be ready for a laugh riot!" With that the Man of Steel darts across the air suspended on invisible currents attempting to tackle and subdue the youth. Taking a moment or two to blink, The Flash is stopped dead in his tracks. First, as the situation here hits him a moment after he's arrived, the sheer sight of all this chaos and destruction sinking in. Second, because Superman disregarded him and charged into action and... and that means this is Serious Business. Something he realized as he instinctively moved to get to those tank drivers as he sees the eyes light up. Racing back to Jay, Flash sets the men off there. "Jay, this really isn't the time for that... fine. 'Kay? But right now..." It's back to business, serious business. It's what Barry would do, right Jay? And then, looking to Jesse, Flash wonders. Looking now up and around at the sky, he actually holds a finger up to ... get a feel for the weather right now? Even as those rioters head in his direction, Wally holds his ground for a moment. See, it's those rioters he thinks he shall try to stop first, seeing as how the Big Guy is doing the direct thing. "Jesse, want to give me a hand? I need you to help me round up a cold front..." Jay Garrick blinks at Wally, somewhat befuddled. "Good ... take care of that, lad, I'm going to work on disarming the combatants." He shakes his head a bit to clear it, and assesses the situation. He's almost still for a moment, then just seems to blur before your eyes. Jesse Quick finishes with her share of the soldiers. Her mother's abilities assisting her as she drops the large enlisted men. Her eyes go to Wally she's still blurring rapidly not even allowing herself to think away from the formula. Its there, "Let's Go.." Whatever needs doing. Cut TO: Inside the Bug Booster Gold turns to the left. "Times like this I still wish Mr. Miracle was out tech guy." He taps a few keys and the targeting system comes up. "Missiles, Lasers, Strobe lights, Photo torpedoes. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions." He nods. "That's the targeting system there and there and I have control over the arms." He nods. He looks at the screen. "Enhance section four" The screen gels for a moment revealing the wreckage. "Sweet Mary Joseph and child" He looks at Arrow. "Follow the Leaguers, and shadow them for now. Let me know what weapons you want, when you want it." He turns tapping more keys. Green Arrow nods as he starts to hover low. "Looks like the Boy Scout is going after the guy causing the trouble... looks like we've got clean up then." He starts to pilot the Bug toward a fiery gas main. "See anything that says "Ice ray" or "fire extinguisher" on the panel over there?" Don't sing it. Bring it. As Superman barrels toward War, the kid smirks slightly and raises a hand and unless Uncle Clark changes course, he will run right into it. "Hello, Kal-El. So glad you could make it. It is a shame this will be our last meeting." Then, if he manages to have grabbed said head, War begins to slowly squeeze with strength above that of the Man of Steel himself. If he didn't grab Superman, Kal hits Kon squarely in the stomach, but either way, the boy is only knocked back about five feet before he gains control of himself once more. Below, the rioters look to the Flash and continue on, not stopping, not rejoicing, but attacking with what they can best use as deadly force against a superhero. Rocks, boards, boards with big nails, anything they can grab are hurled, swung, whatever at Wally as they march toward the Parliament. However, Wallace will receive some assistance in the form of the military themselves. As the rioters reach them, some of the soldiers turn their weapons on the civilians themselves, mowing them down with machine gun fire if not stopped or the people not moved. Those who do not fire on the people, continue to fire upon both War -and- Superman as a heavily armored helicopter comes up over the horizon. Superman wrestles, caught in War's grip. "Ngggggghhh. What happened to you, Kon-El? What are you doing...?" He struggles to break free from the chokehold, obviously exerting more effort than anyone might expect. Making split second decisions is what Flash does on a daily basis, and so it really isn't a wonder that he does so now. "Jesse! The people, the bullets!" She's the one who can get to them, handle the people, fly and do all of that strength stuff too if needed, really, it's what makes sense to do. Even if it means he's sacrificing Jesse to the difficult, direct task, the one that places her right *there* with danger. He trusts her. Besides, he'll be right back. Racing *away* from Montreal, Wally finds lots of space to act, and open space is what he needs. Finding a warm front he uses his speed to heat up that all the more, using his vibrational control to stimulate the hair, in effect super heating it. Why? Because then when Wally goes to _push_ that hot air a ton of *extremely* cold air will follow it. And when Wally has enough of that warm gathered... well, it's go time. So, effectively 'pulling' a massive cold front down from the artic pole, Montreal is about to be hit with a massive cold snap. Hopefully that will take the fight out of people. It will mean tornados, but with a carefully places and watched arm-twirled vortex here or there, it should be countered. Thus, meaning a lot of sudden cold, cold, cold air for one and all. No one needs that kind of assistance. She's there. Jesse places herself between bullet and body and catches them quickly dropping them to the ground as she catches them. She zips up and down in the air. There are moments when she seems to be everywhere .. Some of the catches are very in the nick of time. They are flying everywhere. There is no hesitation. There is no stopping. She is doing everything she can to protect the innocents and the soldiers. She doesn't understand what could be happening.. Even in a riot situation what is going on here.. Why bullets.. Why not tear gas or Pepper Spray. Ooh an idea. The blond snatches a couple canisters off some of the soldiers. Well.. actually.. it's more like catch, snatch, and throw. As she halts a bullet, she yanks another can away from a soldier not using it, flicking the lever on it activating it.. she's tossing the can out towards the group. There are multiple clouds of pepper spray misting across the melee. This is why folks wear goggles... even as it burns a touch to breathe, her eyes are tear free. She doesn't even notice what else is going on.. She is dealing with this riot. Everything she's doing is all she can do. Green Arrow watches the crowd below and hears the hail of gunfire. "Hmmm... We've got some non-lethal weaponry on this thing, right? I remember Beetle used to have that gun...the strobe thing." he mutters as he looks around on the control panel. And then he sees it... "Strobe". He presses the button, and the eyes of the bug begin to flash with a bright constant pattern: one that causes a non-lethal nausea in most human beings. Hopefully that will get the crowd to stop fighting each other... The Bug flies straight toward the nearest spouting gas main. The left third arm extends forward. The Bug turns and waits. Inside the Bug Cockpit: Booster nods, moves a small button and fires a huge amount of foam. And not just any foam, but blue foam, the Beetle's signature foam. This said foam, will hopefully stop the spouting flame and stop the explosion, if not, Booster will attempt something else, but the gout of flame is his immediate concern. Booster smiles at the blue extinguishing foam. "Gimmicky bastard." He looks at Arrow. "Try that button. I said, go windows 98, but no, he had to go with Kord Systems. Jeese." He looks across at the battling duo. "Dear God, I hope Superman can stop him." Jay Garrick's eyes widen as he watches the red beams attack the tank. "Ohhh no, I didn't let you men fall to the Hun, I'm not about to let you fall to some blasted child." He alters his vibration rate, and starts running back and forth straight through the tank ... on each pass, he grabs an enlisted man by the arm and vibrates him free, pulling him to relative safety ... then circling back for another try. "What I was made to do," is the low answer from Kon-El as he grips Superman's throat, looking down to the ground. "Goodbye, Kal-El." In the blink of an eye, War begins to descend, fast, toward the ground, the Man of Steel before him. The kid is stronger than Superman and not releasing his grip. In fact, it is growing tighter and tighter. The idea here is simple, slam Superman into the ground with the force of a meteorite crashing to Earth. Even if Supes does get away in time, when War comes crashing down, the ground shakes and rioters and soldier alike fall from the shockwave, then fall to the gas employed by the Quick thinking Quick and the nausea from the strobe light. +Roger, Chopper One you are free to engage. Fire at will.+ With that one command, the helicopter that is now coming into view fires off two missiles directed at ground zero of the two falling superbeings. As the cold front moves in, the already downed civilians begin to shake and shiver, curling up en masse to stay warm. The fight is, for now, taken out of them. Superman wrests his head, turning it about in the air and exhales deeply, attempting to blow away everything in the path of War's line of impact. He trusts that the assembled heroes will take care of the wind-tossed civilians, insuring them a gentle landing. Coming to a stop in the middle of a now very chilly downtown Montreal, Flash puts his hands on his knees, needing a moment to get his bearings straight. Sure, he's the fastest there is, but doing what he just did would take a lot out of any=one, bringing all of that artic wind all this way. But... what? The chaos isn't over *yet*? As he's at a dead halt, and he doesn't have flight, he'll get knocked flat on his behind at the shockwave, landing with an awkward 'omph!'. But then as he rights himself, at speeds faster than man, he looks to that crater. "... Superman?..." Oh. Crap. In motion now, before the dust can settle, The Flash blurs to play catcher, to snag those people before they can hit the ground, most definitely. And not where they land, but away, many blocks away. Green Arrow winces a bit as he sees some of the wind-tossed civvies. With the skill of a seasoned pilot, he moves towards them, and extends the bugs legs. "Booster, get out there and catch some of those people!" he screams as he opens one of the exit hatches of the Bug while swooping to catch people in the gripping "hands" of the Bug's arms. Before Arrow has said it, he'd probably see there's a small cargo door that's open and closed nearby and a blue and gold streak moving from the Bug. At fast speeds, though clearly not Flash or Superman fast, Booster moves. He narrows his eyes racing left and right, tapping his wrist controls extending his force field to catch them here and there, if he can. The people will get a good bump, but they'll definitely not go splat if he succeeds. He continues to move widening his force field to hold them to its limits. "On....it." Jesse Quick yells out as the shockwave hits. Effectively distracting her from what gives her her link to the Speedforce. It was one of those moments almost a nick of time catch that turns into her catching a graze along the side of the arm. Blood spurts outwards as she falls. The blond lands with a curse pushing herself up onto her hands with a "3X2(9YZ)4A!" and is off again. She'll worry about the wound later. That's what speed healing is for. Her speed kicks up moving her quicker towards the others, catching who ever she can in midair. Its horrible, simply nothing she can fathom right now. She just works as hard as she can, as fast as she can.. using what she can from her other life in this one. Leaving the Man of Steel for dead, War slowly stands, lifting his head to look over the destruction that has been wrought, just in time to spot the missiles. Red light flares from his eyes again and the weapons, as well as what launched them, explodes. As the wreckage of the chopper falls, still burning, the Kid begins to march toward Parliament, through the lines of any soldiers that remain he calmly strolls, face full of determination. Even as bullets bounce harmlessly off of him. The day is won. Earth's champion has fallen. As he marches, the kid reaches to his side, pulling forth a large sword from the scabbard at his side to meet Jay Garrick as he the man rushes toward him in a brave, but futile effort to save Superman. When Jay attacks, he meets only steel, the sword coming around toward him, protected by the tactile telekinesis field that surrounds the boy itself, making it virtually indestructible. Whether it slices off Garrick's head, or merely hits with the flat end, War continues on, uncaring about the man. With a loud thwap, the side of the blade hits Garrick in the head, knocking him to the ground like a sack of potatoes, or a rag doll, and there he lays, unmoving and barely breathing. He is not dead, simply stunned as the sword of War strikes him down, only the flat of the weapon having landed. However, for as still as he lays, he is most definitely hurt. First Superman and now... "JAY!!!!" He doesn't have super powered lungs or anything, just fast feet. Bt not fast enough. As she's racing back to the scene, all Wally can do is stop, falling to his knees. He's been here. He's been party to Barry being cute down in a crisis and now... What can he do? Run at War, and befall the same fate? Should he just sit here and do nothing? That's what he wants to do, but he can't. Struggling to his feet, knowing he's on shaking ground, to say the least, Wally darts to Superman. Why? To see if the guy really is down for the count, because if he is, then there is no hope. Superman is still and silent. His heart does not beat. His chest does not heave with the heavy motion of even the most pained breath. Finally, fingers ball into fists and he pulls himself upward frailly. This man who can survive a 40,000-megaton nuclear blast, who can survive through supernovas, is winded and worn down. He whispers in a pained voice. "This... Doesn't look good, Wally." Booster Gold is moving as fast as he can. He lowers the people to the ground carefully and looks up. He taps his goggles. Telescopic sight hones in on the exact moment the sword is swung at Garrick. Because of the angle, he can't tell if it hit to kill or just smack, but it looks convincing enough! . o O (No!) The image of this races through his mind. He sees the first Flash fall. If he's dead or not he can't tell! But if he can go down, anyone can! "Arrow, my god! The destruction." He turns and looks at the bug. "Is superman?" She hears the Flash. Holding a child against her Jesse Quick turns to gaze in his direction. .. and the Fallen Jay. She gives a choked sob of surprise and just turns away putting the child behind some rubble for protection. Her feet dig in and she's back just taking care of the situation. Don't think about it.. don't think about it.. just the work. Just the work. Don't think about who else could still be down. She moves another bystander out of the way as she continues to push herself towards the envelope. Green Arrow manages to grasp three people with the Bug, whom he deposits on a stable rooftop nearby. He too flies to the crater and looks down from above. He responds to Booster over their radio as he readies a rope ladder to climb down from the now hovering Bug. "I don't know... can you get close to him?" Green Arrow sees Superman rise and corrects himself. "Never mind... he's up... he looks like Keith Richards but he's up..." Rising into the air once more, the Horseman continues on, floating toward the building, which houses the Canadian government, perching atop it. As he lands, he turns, looking out over the heroes and raising his voice to them. "People of Earth. Today you have witnessed the second coming of War. Although you relish in the fighting, nothing you do can stop what has befallen your planet. It is time for the Apocalypse. For the Four Horsemen to ride. There is nothing that you can do to stop it. You shall all suffer and die. So says War." As his speech ends, the Horseman drives his sword into the roof of the building upon which he stands and it implodes, becoming devastated, completely and utterly destroyed. All that remains is the crack foundation and pieces of glass and stone shoot outward with amazing force in all directions. Floating, still, where the building was, is War, cape billowing in the breeze, completely unscathed. Jesse Quick is struck still and watches it all come apart. A country's capital demolished. Their parliament? People in there? She doesn't know who might have been in there. As the debris rushes out its all she can do to utter the formula and make herself vibrate so much the shrapnel passes through her. The Four Horsemen.. it can't.. be... this can't be the end... of it all. The thoughts run through her and she floats up in a rapid blur. And oddly.. she grins.. Hell she even laughs, "Its not the Apocalypse.. I've seen the future.. You're just an obstacle we've got to get around.." Green Arrow woahs as the Bug is shaken and bombarded by the debris released by the explosion of the Parliament building. Thankfully, the Bug manages to stay stable... though it does take a few serious dents and scratches. Ted Kord is going to be ticked when they pilot the thing home... maybe Ollie can get him some of that miracle car polish that can get scratches out of any car paint as a peace offering... Booster Gold moves and puts his force field up covering both him and Arrow. "He's gonna kill us you know!" He looks down. "We're gonna need back up with that kind of power." He narrows his eyes. Superman rises to his feet, dust and ash falling from his battered form. He rises into the air weakly, his ankles and shoulders limply hanging downwards. "The... Four Horsemen...? My God, Kon-El. Snap out of it!" He buries his head in his hands for a moment to compose himself and resumes his attentions on the Horseman before him, a look of defiance coming over his features. "No. I don't believe in an Apocalypse... At least not the bloody kind you represent. My world, my people, was ripped away from me while I was still an embryo and yet, I survived and now, I have a family and a life here. Krypton isn't dead. It lives on in here." He pounds his chest for emphasis. "And earth will not die either. You can preach about nature and science and philosophy and death all you want, you maniac, but no matter how many people you kill, some fragment will escape your bloody grasp." He straightens himself, rising to his full height proudly though his cape and costume are tattered. "Still, I will not let another world die as my home world did." He grimaces. "You want earth, you go through me. Kill me, slaughter me, do what you will. I've been dead before. But I swear to Rao that I will reassemble myself atom by atom if I have to and I will put an end to your Apocalyptic delusions." He cracks his knuckles. "Now, I suggest you let Kon-El go." "No, Superman, this most definitely doesn't look good. It doesn't look good at all. In fact it looks a hell of a lot like... like..." And then the lad cuts himself off as he's biting back his emotions, attempting to restrain them as quickly as they seem to swell. His hand is extended to Superman, to help the guy up but then... the Man of Steel does well enough on his own. But then as Parliament explodes all Wally can do is turn and stagger at the force of the blast, his powers allowing him to dodge the larger of the debris, and to touch it awaide so that it won't harm someone else. As Superman speaks he knows what has to be done. Stepping up behind Superman now, his costume battered and sliced in a couple of places, he knows he's faired rather well compared to most. Especially... especially poor Jay, Jay who... no, not now. Flash steps up beside Superman now, looking over to Jay's prone form once, before snapping back to War. This is the kid that Wally once bitched out for encouraging Bart not to do his homework. This is the kid that toilet papered the Titans Tower and panty raided the female members. But this is also the kid that became War. "I only have one thing to say to you. No more." This cannot be allowed to continue. Even if it is Superboy they are fighting. Bart's friend. Fortunately it's not Bart he has to fight. "History is not set in stone, Jesse Quick, as Impulse surely should show. The future you saw is not the one that we will usher in. There are many worlds, many realities, and many possible futures. You have seen but one, but it is not the one into which this world is bound." Looking to Superman, a slight smirk comes to War's lips at the man's words. From one warrior to another, he gives Earth's champion his moment to speak. When the Man of Steel finishes, the boy begins to descend, toward the two heroes, Superman and the Flash. "Kon-El," he begins again, voice as cold as death itself. "I remember when I was given that name. How you thought it was such a great honor for me to have it. How I played along so that you would be happy. Well, Kal-El, Kon-El is dead." With the smirk becoming a sneer, War raises the sword to point toward Supes. "By your wish, Kal-El... Join him... cousin." In the blink of an eye, War is careening toward Superman, sword outstretched, directed at the man's chest, at his Kryptonian heart. Superman glances down at lightning speed with his X-Ray vision and spotting a high voltage cable nearly unearthed in all the commotion, Superman plunges his hands into the dirt like a Kansas farm boy and whips the live wire out, attempting to electrify War's sword! He can see it coming a mile away. Wait, no, now he's in Canada. He can see it coming a kilometer away. And this time Flash is prepared. And he's not going to stand by and react. He's going to act. For Jay. For everyone here. So, not leaving Superman's side, Flash's arms move in front of him. Why? Well, to high-speed twirl to create vortex's to blow back or even just slow down War. Hopefully. To give the Big S time to do his thing. As the broken remnants of the Parliamentary building burn and crackle in the background, a black silhouette can be made out against the tongues of flame and piled rubble. The figure's cape unfurls in a the updraft coming from the scattered shards of concrete and brick. Looking over the ruin and the circle of heroes facing with the youthful avatar of War, the Dark Knight takes in the scene. As the Man of Steel comes into hand to hand with the Horseman and the Flash makes his gambit, he moves into a brisk run down the sloping hill of debris. A weighted black batarang appears in his right hand's grip and he flicks a switch on its side. A small green light blinks on the smooth face of the weapon. He comes to a halt near the Emerald Archer. "Came as soon as I heard," he says in a flat monotone. He watches the melee carefully, gauging the tactical situation up close and personal before taking any direct action. With a smirk, War pulls up short of Superman and Flash, shaking his head. With a flash of energy from his eyes, the cable is cut below Superman's hand to fall to the side, the end the Man of Steel holds dead and lifeless, though the part that hits the ground still zapping and alive with electricity at the man's feet. "Playing dirty, Kal-El. There is hope for you yet." As he rises into the air once more, the sword is plunged into the scabbard and the Kid surveys all that has been done here. Hundreds dead, both civilian and soldiers alike, the seat of the Canadian government in ruins with half the Provincial Ministers slain in the explosion as well, half the city in ruins, those who managed to survive left homeless, and possibly one dead speedster in the form of Jay Garrick. "This is not the last time you shall see me, heroes. This world craves destruction, anarchy, and it shall be wrought. Be its downfall." With one more parting shot, at a lone flagpole where the Canadian banner waves proudly amidst the ruin with his heat vision, War takes off, heading south, toward America, gone in a flash, as the smoke from the now burning flag billows into the night sky... Green Arrow nods to Batman as he appears. "Yeah... so did we all..." he says eyeing the green light on the Batarang. He's got a sneaking suspicion what the device is, but he's not about to ask point blank. Instead he looks around the scene with a sad expression on his face. "Looks like we were all a bit late, though..." Batman flicks the switch on the 'rang and the green light dies. He turns his face skywards after the disappearing speck of the flying Horseman, the smoke of the destruction and pain he has wrought curling up after him. Turning the batarang with a motion of his fingers, he returns it to his belt. His mouth tenses and he looks back down, leveling his gaze at Ollie. "Yes. Won't happen again." Booster Gold moves toward Jay. He's determined to help him if he can. He turns his goggles on to check his vitals, heat signature, heart rate. He's happy to see he isn't dead. Jesse Quick lands wearily. She crouches on the ground for a moment before moving into a standing position. Her hands idly pull the tie out of her hair and then she refastens it. It's all just a lot. A whole great deal. She takes a shaking breath of air placing a hand to her face. Slowing his arms from their twirling motion, seeing that really they had done nothing at all, not as effective as he had hoped, Wally can just stand there and watch War fly off. Poor Kon... whatever this is, it's.. it's not happening to Bart, at least, and in that Flash is privately shameful. Looking to Superman, and then over to Batman Wally feels... well, empty, to a degree. They're the League and stuff like this isn't supposed to happen. But then, things like this do happen, have happened... and happened right here, here and now. Wally also notices the color of that light on the batarang before Batman turns it off, but now's not the time to say anything about that. Shivering a little, he remembers now what he did with the whole cold front thing. And with so many hurt... now they're bound to be cold too. "I'm on it," is all he says to Superman, zipping into motion to help those that need to be helped, to clean up. To give Superman and Batman space and time to talk, to give Supes time to think about what is happening here and to Kon, and to give himself something to do so he doesn't think about Jay right now. Green Arrow nods silently at Batman, not in the mood to make a big speech about how utterly insane the current situation is... no point in stating the obvious right now. Besides, considering what he thinks the general opinion of him is right now because of the Joker incident (never mind that it was a total accident) he really doesn't feel like being around the icons right now. He moves after Booster, intent on putting his own first aid skills to work helping the older Flash. Batman rests a hand against his forehead, bowing his cowl a little as he mutters "War. Canada. Death. Unknown. Pestilence. The Gulf Coast. Famine. Libya." As if on cue, the mournful wail of a distant casualty of the onslaught echoes faintly. After a long moment's pause of reflective thought, The Bat looks to Kal-El, saying "Whoever...or whatever...has done this Superboy may have done the same to others. We need an accounting of known metahumans and soon. A general assembly is advisable as well..." he drifts off, pausing to study the larger man's expression, unsure if the shock of the devastation and the identity of the attack have quite worn off yet. Batman turns towards the fallen form of Jay Garrick, frowning pensively. He shakes his head slightly from side to side, but lets Booster work on the Golden Ager. Glancing up as the red blur that is Wallace West passes by; he holds up a flat hand and says "Wally. I need your help." Gawd, it's creepy how Batman does that, as Wally really isn't thinking of where he's going right at this moment. But then just as he glances up there's that black hand, bidding him to halt. And you know, at the mindset he's in right now, he doesn't feel like stopping. But this is Batman. This is Bruce. And so, Wally stops. Carrying debris that he was moving aside in one hand and a blanket to hand off to someone in the other, he nods to Batman. Though Wally isn't a grim fellow, his features are dark enough. Troubled. Scared. Surely Batman knows this look. "Of.. of course B-... Batman. What do you need?" Green Arrow moves to Booster's side. "How's he looking?" he says, looking at Jay and making his own appraisal just based on the look. Near as Ollie can tell he's dazed and bruised, but aside from having a monster of a headache, he should recover in time... Booster Gold nods and looks down. "He's okay. " He moves him a little to a spot where we can wake. He looks around the debris. "Maybe we better airlifts some doctors in. Or...." He looks at the bug. "Whatever you think." Jay will be fine, though a little sore for a while. He did a rather brave thing, attempting to save Superman from War, and paid a hefty price. Luckily, he did not pay the ultimate one. The Golden Age speedster will be back up and running (pun intended) in no time at all. Batman looks to the shaken speedster with his resolute mask of grim determination, giving the younger hero something steady to concentrate on amidst the hellish wreck of the scene. "We need a general call to arms. Any and everyone you can think of. League members, reservists, Titans, Outsiders, independents, fringe operators - ANYone." He rests a hand on his belt, pausing to consider. "Those with an occult specialization especially. Zatanna, obviously. The current incarnation of Fate." He purses his lips, somewhat distastefully "John Constantine, I suppose." He meets Wally's eyes. "Tell them to meet in the Justice Cave, Sunday night." Jesse Quick glances curiously towards Wally and Batman. She arches her eyebrows a bit as she pulls herself back together. Her hands fold behind her back as she looks about again. Her eyes go to Jay and she looks visibly relieved to note he's breathing. Green Arrow nods at Booster, sighing a bit inwardly. He hadn't signed on to the Outsiders planning to become a leader, yet more and more he find himself being asked for advice and to take charge in situations... something the Emerald Archer is a little unused to, having always been a background player in most of his time spent in the JLA. "You stay here and start searching and moving the rubble... may still be some living people trapped under there... I'll use the Bug and find the nearest hospital, though odds are they're pretty hard pressed right now since he attacked a good part of the town before coming here. Still, I'll see who can be spared and start clearing a ground path here..." he says eyeing the Bug's strong arms. "And let's just hope Ted is understanding about the paint getting a little chipped." Hell *has* come to Earth if Batman is asking for even Constantine. And Wally's not sure if he should just run away and hide as he realizes, truly, what it is that Bruce is asking for here. But then, if Batman is asking for that wild card, all those wild cards, then this means Batman has a plan. And in Wally's experience when Batman has a plan, there is nothing but success for Batman. "On it," he finally says, nodding his head once more. "Might want to have Oracle contact those I can't find. I'll get the word out. And Batman..." Flash leans in now, and whispers something, before he rights himself. "Jesse, I'm sorry to leave you with... well..." Jay. But then, when you see him next, you can tell him the good news. And with that the Flash is off and running. Batman turns and moves off as well, evidently taking the Flash's departure as a sign for his own need to move on. With a last bitter look around the ruin of the city street, he disappears soundlessly behind the shattered street corner. Jesse Quick makes her way to wards Jay's form, "Excuse me.." With a gentle grace belying the motion the girl scoops up the elder statesman of the speedsters, "I'm gonna run him home... he'll be better off there for now.." She nods her head to the others and then after a soft murmur she and Flash I are gone.
