Subject: Martian Manhunter & Cassie Log. Its a clear, bright, and cheerful Sunday afternoon. Children scamper around the park, mothers and fathers watch, not even the chilled wind that blows through can damper their spirits. The sky is clear, as the winter sun's warmth beats down, creating a nippy sixty degrees. Most don't care, its a beautiful day, and its time for some fun. The shadows lengthen towards the east, as a patch of dense trees can be found, and situated within the limbs sits one, rather quiet, Wonder Girl. Her back rests against the tall oak's trunk, one leg sprawled out onto a limb, the other dangles down, her gaze is centered on a small squirrel that chitters angrily at the young super heroine. Her expression is far from interested, as though she's just blanked out, completely and utterly devoid of emotion. >From the crystal blue sky, a small man-shaped dot grows in size as it descends from the heavens, a healthy shade of green making itself apparent on the man's frame as he swoops down closer to the earth, a royal blue cloak unfurling behind him in motion. He pauses above the roof-tops for a moment - just at that range that most people would point and exclaim about him being a bird or a plane, were he some other hero - before he readjusts his course to descend upon Bryant Park. One boy scampers towards his dog, laughing gleefully as he trips and rolls down a small incline, the dog yapping at the boys heels happily. As soon as he lands at the bottom, his eyes widen, at the descending figure.. His hand waves widly up into the air, though his mother pays little heed, simply scolding the boy for running off. Wonder Girl continues to just sit, and stare at the squirrel, hidden from view from most of the nosey occupants of the park, her goggle covered eyes simply stare off into oblivion. One hand plucks off a bit of the loose bark, sending shards of wood to drop onto the ground below her. The squirrel gives up trying to get the big bird out of his tree, and just scampers down, still chittering angrily. Only nodding breifly to the young boy and his dog, the Manhunter from Mars lands lightly on the soft grass of the park, his blue boots treading across the greenery as he makes his way towards Cassie's tree. He stands there at the base of the tall oak, turning his dark eyes to regard the young girl. "Greetings, Wonder Girl," he states, only loud enough for her to hear. With a wrinkled up nose, Cassie thought she heard someone say something. Surely she was mistaken? Someone.. talking to her? With a mildly startled expression, her goggled covered orbs stare down the trees branches towards the .. oh great .. Just a little bit of a groan escapes her lips, thoughts wondering if he's come to ask her to not be a super hero, cause of her stupidity the other night. A youthfuly, "Just a sec." Comes out of her mouth, as her leg drops down to meet up with the other, leaping from the tree her form pauses in mid-air, before slowly dropping towards the ground, landing with a *crunch* next to the imposing figure of the Manhunter from Mars. "I apologize if I am interrupting anything," J'Onn begins, looking down towards Cassie, "But you didn't appear to be busy." A slight breeze picks up, sending his blue cloak floating about him, sweeping to one side. There's a shake of her raven wig, as Cassie's wide eyes stare up at J'Onn. Her neck cranes backwards, idly wondering if he'd consider it an insult if she flew up so she could meet this dismissal eye to eye. "Nope." Comes her reply, she's not exactly one to know the politeness of speaking with superheroes correctly. "I was just idly day dreaming." She confesses, not sure why, but she does anyway. A slight nod of the Martian's head is his initial response, before he continues in his deep, rich timbre. "I'm afraid my visit isn't a purely social one," he begins - probably not helping Cassie's misconception of why he's here, "But I realized today that I had forgotten to obtain your transporter link yesterday after the JLA tour. Due to our security protocols, only full Justice League members are allowed to possess them." His tone is neither reprimanding nor condescending; he's just here to pick up something he forgot yesterday. Relief registers on the young Wonder Girl's face, as she lets out a thankful sigh. "Oh wow.." Comes her response, as she digs into her pocket, yanking out the pin to offer it up towards you. "Sure, sorry, totally forgot, I had it.. Very sorry, didn't mean to take it.. Really.." The words are rushed out, and if she was just a little bit more nervous and uptight about this visit, she'd be shaking. J'Onn reaches out to take the pin between his smooth, emerald fingers, glancing at it breifly before depositing it in some pocket hidden beneath the folds of his cloak. "No harm was done, Wonder Girl," he responds, actually smiling a little in reassurance to her. "I trust that you found the tour educational?" Ugh, he would bring up the tour, Cassie's mind races a moment, before she answers truthfully. "Yeah, it was great, I really enjoyed seeing everything, though I would have liked to .. well .. asked a bit more questions." Her nose wrinkles upwards, shoulders shrugging into the next string of words. "Thank you for taking us." She states, finally, her goggle covered orbs still staring .. or attempting to stare, you in the eyes. There's a sense of awe still, standing in the shadow of one of the JLA's founding members. Not much has ever been said about this being, yet, he's always been in the pictures, always the leader type.. The /leader/.. that word seems to just cling into the girl's memories.. Leader, and she acted like a buffoon. Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. "You are welcome," the jade-skinned Martian replies, nodding slightly. "Though, if you wish to ask more questions about the League, and how we operate... please do. The entire purpose of the tour was to give you and other young heros the opportunity to gather more information about us." Her nose wrinkles up even further, as Cassie hops from one foot to the other, tempting to ask so many questions, so many things she wants to know about the JLA, though the better part of valor, and the fact she's still chagrined, keeps her mouth from parting. For a moment, she just strains her neck, before lifting upwards, until her eyes are level with you a quick. "Hope you don't mind, Mister Maritan Manhunter, sir, but I was getting a stiff neck." She offers a crooked grin, hands linking infront of her. Taking in a deep breath, she inquires. "Why did the league form? The papers never really said, cept for that truth justice and everything, is that what its about? Or?" Not minding at all that you're floating now at eye level, J'Onn offers you a slight nod at the question, the memories almost visibly filtering through his mind. "The League," he begins after a moment, "initially formed in response to an alien threat that no one of the original five members could defeat on our own. Together, we were able to use teamwork to emerge victorious, and it was decided that we should continue to focus our efforts together in that manner." He pauses for a breath then, reflecting somewhat before continuing. "The League has always stood for truth and justice, as you have said, but it has also always been an institution for the world's most powerful heroes to unite against those threats which we cannot face individually." Her hands unclasp from infront of her form, to clasp in back, as Wonder Girl continues to hover within eyelevel. Her upper teeth bite down onto her bottom lip as you talk, listening with rapt attention, fascination, awe.. Her eyelashes lower a moment, and through the glass of the goggles her blue orbs shine as she asks.. "Well.. can I ask who is in the league now, sir?" "Yes, you may.. and the question is a good one," J'Onn replies. "As you may be aware of, the League has just undergone some membership revisions, and at this point we have not even made a public announcement as to our new roster. However," he states, looking at you squarely, "As a member of what some have called the Junior version of the Justice League, I believe you are entitled to certain priveledges and responsibilities. Currently, the League is comprised of myself, Aquaman, Batman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Zatanna, and Supergirl." Another slight break between thoughts, most likely for a subtle dramatic effect, before he goes on. "Of course, I would appreciate it if the press remains uninformed about this... We still have a few minor protocol issues to address before our new structure is made known publically." There's a chuckle that erupts from this young hero, her eyes flashing with sudden excitment at knowing something that hardly anyone else knows. Cassie's mouth parts as she lets out a quick. "Oooh Man.. no way would I let out any secrets like that to the public, Mister Martian Manhunter, Sir." She flashes you a crooked smile, the corners of her lips tugging upwards, as she gazes eye level still at you. Her hands slip from behind her back, to run through her wig, making it a bit askew from her head. "Wow.. those are really majorly cool heros." She comments, just out of no where, her words spoken without thought, as she's apt to do. "Has there been any majorly, bad horrible threats lately?" She inquires, enthusiastically. Giving you a slightly odd look, J'Onn tilts his head just so, regarding you. "There are always horrible threats, Wonder Girl," he states, his deep voice taking on a somewhat grave edge. "It is for just such a reason that the Justice League must always remain vigilant, and must always be a force for good." A touch of platinum blonde hair peaks out from underneath her wig, as Cassie's fingernails scratch one spot.. thoughts ranging from.. 'gotta get a wig that doesn't itch..' to 'cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!'. Wonder Girl's head bobs up and down, as her hands find something else to do, wringing in front of her. Concentrating on flying, without moving all around is tough work, she decides, wanting to fidget. "Wow." Her mouth forms the 'O' shape, before her gaze twinkles a bit more. "A force for good." the words are spoken in an almost whispered awe.. "Sir, Mister Manhunter from Mars? I'm sorry to be taking your time sir, just /one/ more question.." She doesn't even pause to see if its okay.. Just one more.. she hopes its a good one. "Doooooooooooooes the JLA ..." She pauses, her eyes scanning your depths, wondering how anyone can remain so emotionless.. "Occasionally offer training courses for young would be heroes?" "As a general rule," the Manhunter from Mars begins, "No, we do not. While we may extend help to those younger heros who need it, unfortunately, our time is often consumed with our regular duties and responsibilities - and we are then left with little opportunity for any true mentoring." He pauses to let this sink in, his face the usual stoic mask of emerald, before he continues. "However, I personally understand that experienced heroes have much to offer those who are just starting out, who in turn have much to benefit from such a relationship. In the past, I have attempted to fill such a role for others, though never in such a formal structure as a 'course' or a 'class'." Was that just an offer from him, stating he'd be willing to do such again? It's hard to tell from his demeanor, but it just might have been... At first, Cassie's face is crest-fallen, though she /does/ have Wonder Woman to help her.. it'd be nice to gain experience from a whole bunch of different super heroes.. oh well.. Course the next bit, does create an arching of an eyebrow, as she pushes the issue a bit. "Well.." She gets out, treading this ground carefully, as she watches your expression, or lack there of. "Say someone was /really/ interested in learning everything she ahmm.. or he .. could, cause sh.. they want to like be able to help and gain .. training and .. and .. " She fights for the right word. "And gain a benficial and needed aaah ... experience by others than their own mentor.. Would aahm, someone mind -occasionally-.. Very rarely, once ina great while, offering a kind of .. of.. help?" The fumbling of words that Cassie goes through to approach the topic as carefully as she can, causes the Manhunter from Mars to smile slightly at her, a bit of genuine humour touching his normally stoic face. "If you require such help, Wonder Girl," he states, "I would be happy to give it to you. Though, as I am to understand it, you are already receiving personal instruction from Wonder Woman?" Shooting /straight/ into the air, Wonder Girl's form rockets upwards, creating a tiny bit of dust from the ground, her mouth forming the "YES!" That seems to echo over the park. After a second, or two, she lowers herself back down, trying to gain some resemblance to calm again. "Yes, sir." She gets out, her voice shaking. "Wonder Woman is training me, but.. like someone told me.. a one sided education, isn't able to expand ones training to all fields. While Diana is able to teach me what she knows.. " Her eyelashes lower, a smile playing at the corners of her lips, "To gain knowledge, on an occasional, once in awhile .. time .. from the leader of many a JLA, is something that I would be most honored, and privilaged.. And frankly sir, I'd really really really really really really would like." "I've already agreed to assist you," J'Onn begins with another bemused smile. "You don't need to convince me again." He pauses, nodding just a little, as his face again grows serious. "I will endeavor to focus on those areas that Wonder Woman may not have as much experience in then, or from which you would benefit from a dual perspective." Bobbing her head back and forth, Cassie's eyes flash with absolute, and pure delight, her hands wringing in front of her, body wavering back and forth unable to stay still /any/ longer. The wig on her head continues to sweep around at the motions, occasionally covering the bits of platinum that can be seen peaking out. Wonder Girl's voice is filled with an inner enthusiasm, /resisting/ the urge to fling her arms around you like she does Diana.. She simply extends her small, gloved hand towards you. "Thank you, sir." Gripping your hand with his significantly larger green one, J'Onn nods to you once, shaking your hand firmly. "You are welcome, Wonder Girl. I am sure it will be a rewarding experience for both of us." He withdraws his hand then, regarding you silently for another moment. His posture is rigid and straight, his manner almost the complete opposite of yours; reserved, calm, and stoic. Which doesn't both Cassie one bit, as her hand emerges from the massive one that she just shook, the girl's eyes are as round as saucers, wide and expressive, even through the goggles that hide her identity. She offers you a crooked grin, as she takes in a deeeep breath, letting it out slowly. "Oh thank you thank you.. I gotta go now, 'fore they find out I'm missing again." Her eyelashes flutter, lifting herself up into the air more, with a wave of her hand. Returning the wave with a brief one of his own, J'Onn bids farewell, though not without sending you a piece of advice before you leave. Rather than stating the words aloud, however, he transmits his thoughts directly to you, in order to keep the exchange safe from prying ears. <> he begins, <> With that, the Manhunter from Mars makes his own exit, launghing himself into the clear azure sky. D'OH! Is all Cassie manages, as she tugs down the wig, her gaze watching the massive and imposing figure of the Manhunter from Mars leave. Her cheeks flush, though her lips part into a wide smile, giggles escaping. With a push of concentration, she heads back to her school, in a hell of a lot better mood than before.
