It's possible, if you think about it, that Dol's spending more time around New York than she used to. But hey.. it's not that far from Metropolis... right? Er.. right? *cough* Nevermind. Oh, look.. there she is, anyway, so why worry? That stunningly clingy dress has been abandoned again, in favor of her usual almost-clothing. She rises from the water, pushing her hair back from her face with a practiced gesture as she walks toward the shore. Walking from the elevator to the front doors of the Tower, Jack puts on a coat to protect from the getting-chillier night air. Once the doors are opened, he can spot Sandy and his...um...Visitor in the water. He attempts to hide his curiousity of the female, and act all nonchalant. Raising a hand and waving, he calls "Hey!" as he moves toward them. Grinning like few people since the forties have seen him grin, Sandy raises an arm to Dolphin in greeting, leaning down to put his cigarette out in the sand. "Hey, you," he starts cheerfully, then stops, turning to see who's coming from the tower. Oh, nifty, Jack. Well...well, ordinarily he'd be ecstatic to see his friend. Right now, all he can muster up is a 'glad'. But hey, y'all can sympathize, I'm sure. He waves. "Hey, Jack!" Dolphin waves at Sandy, emerging onto the dry sand of the beach and moving toward him. Dripping icy seawater, she takes no notice of the night breeze, but opts not to touch, settling for a smile. Perhaps the presence of the man coming from the tower has something to do with it; she tilts her head curiously, watching his approach. Not recognizing him, of course, since he was so cleverly disguised last time. Jack Knight finally arrives to the other two. He puts his hand behind his head and squints a little. "Um, am I interrupting?" He returns Dolphin's curious gaze. There is a long pause. Finally, he remembers himself and puts forth a hand. "Hi. Jack Knight. You must be..." Pausing and looking at Sand, Jack tries to recall if they've ever been introduced. Finally realizing they hadn't, he concludes his statement "...very wet." "Dolphin," finishes Sand dryly. "I introduced you two last night. Dol, this is Jack, the dope who was wearing way too much clothing last night. Jack, this is Dolphin, who was wearing the absolutely stunning dress. Just exactly how much of that punch did you *have*?" Dolphin, who is in fact very wet, looks on Jack with some amusement, and shakes his hand again, rather than make him look like a fool... y'know, since he's standing there with his hand out. Her skin matches the temperature of the October night ocean. "Hello," she says pleasantly. Trying to hide his discomfort with the coldness, he smiles at Dolphin charmingly, and disengages his hand. "Oh. Hi. Yeah, I remember you now." D'oh. What a dumbass. Jack feels mightly silly, and the look he shoots Sand at this point says as much. "It's a pleasure." Long pause again. It's one of those moments when no one has /anything/ to say. "So..." Jack finally interjects. "What are you guys doing?" Sanderson reaches up and scratches the back of his head dubiously. "Nothing? I mean...nothing. Ahh...wanna go do something?" He pauses. "Jeez, I feel like a kid." Dolphin blinks slightly, laughs, starts to speak again - oooh, twice in five minutes - but cuts off. Frowning, she raises one hand to her ear for a moment or two, as if listening. Then, dropping her fingers, she sighs a little and takes a step back. "I have to go." Jack Knight looks pretty dejected, thinking he may have interrupted something. "Oh...hope I didn't offend you." He states to Dolphin, and then looks over at Sand and frowns slightly. The looks passed now is "What did I do?" Well, Sand looks a little disappointed, but hey, can you blame him? He squelches it, though, smiling at Dolphin first: "Sure. Luck. I'd give you a hand," he says, acknowledging the fact that she looks like she's listening to the undersea equivalent of a police scanner, "but I kinda have this breathing problem when I'm not in air." Then he shakes his head slightly at Jack, offering a crooked grin. Dolphin is already moving toward the water. She flashes a look back over her shoulder at Jack, and adds a quick smile, shaking her head. "Emergency. Sorry." Then, mischievously, she blows a quick kiss to Sandy before her form becomes nothing more than a graceful silhouette, diving forward into the water. A soft splash, and she's vanished. Jack watches as Dolphin fades into the water with more than a little awe. "She's...er...quite a catch." The irony of that statement is not lost to Jack, and he grins a little at his own joke. He kicks a stone lightly, which tumbles into the bay. "Listen, man. I had no idea that you guys were meeting or anything. I just saw you on the cams inside the Tower and came out to say hi. I figured you were here to see me." Shoving his hands into his pockets, he regards Sand with an apologetic look. "I don't think she likes me very much." Smiling with a good wallop of bemusement at Dolphin's air-kiss, it takes Sand a second to register Jack's words. "Yeah...yeah, she is. And my god, is she perceptive." He turns, flinging his arms out a la anyone who stands on a mountain in a movie with a long range pan moving out on the picture. "Hah! Me. No way." His arms drop, and he grins at his friend. "And I was gonna come in and see you after I saw her. And sometimes I think she doesn't like me much, either, but then she surprises me like that." "She's sort of...quirky, ain't she?" Said ernestly, with no malice, the words imply directly what Jack is thinking. She's a fruitloop. Or appears to be based on their too brief meetings. "Didn't you say last time she knows Aquaman? Does she like, live..." He points to the bay. "Down there?" Sand Hawkins nods cheerfully, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Yep! Gets a kick outta my name, too." Jack Knight nods. "No kidding." He walks over to a nearby "illusionary" rock and sits down. Looking down at the stone and pondering how illusions can feel so...hard, Jack finally looks back to Sand. "So...how the hell did you guys hook up?" Sand Hawkins thinks the outside island is for real. But anyway...heh...he grins, and lights up again. "Accident. I was waiting around out here and she came up looking for Tempest." He pauses, looking at Jack. "By 'hooking up' you mean meeting, right?" "Wow. Lucky you." Jack chuckles slightly, perhaps pondering his own women troubles. "But then again, I've noticed that the female Titans and their friends all appear to be from the "Goddess" persuasion." Some more than others perhaps? Is there a certain someone Jack himself has his eyes on? "What, you mean you haven't 'gotten together'?" He makes the little quote signs with his hands as he says the words. Sand Hawkins honestly looks puzzled now. Woah. Woah, wait, Jack, what have you stumbled onto, here? What in heaven's name have you discovered about the perpetual swinger, the amazing ladies' man? "Gotten together? Well, we went to Warriors'..."
