Legion Plaza Legion Plaza lies to the southeast of Exhibition Square, now an area of great interest to tourists, with the addition of the plaza's new namesake: the Legion of Super-Heroes Headquarters. Standing boldly in the center of the open plaza, with a star-shaped pond in front, the golden building gleams with the pride and hope of the Legion. Some of the surrounding buildings are undergoing renovation. Metropolis Stadium lies to the northwest, in Exhibition Square, and to the west is the South Shore, where more affordable housing may be found. Lightning Lad sighs as he exits the Leland-1. He looks back at his shiny bird, then looks up at LSH HQ... almost wistfully. Lightning Lad spies Cos and Brain. "Uh... hey guys. Ya got my message, huh?" Brainiac 5 nods. Cosmic Boy wanders out, wearing shorts and a t-shirt, obviously taking advantage of the beautiful weather. He brightens when he sees Garth, but blinks blankly at his question. "I...huh? Actually, no. I just got in. What's up, Li- Garth?" Brainiac 5 lifts an eyebrow. "Message?" Lightning Lad uhhs... Lightning Lad says "I was just gonna head to Takron-Galtos, except that the WorkForce doesn't have official status with the SP." Cosmic Boy errs. "How long ago did you send it?" He pauses. "Oh. Ah...well." He scratches his nose. "I think that'd have to go through Saturn Girl. If you wanted official, y'know, Legion Backing (tm)." Lightning Lad rubs the back of his neck, looking curiously at Cos, "So, Rokk, you up for a trip? I'm driving..." Brainiac 5 nods with Cosmic Boy. "Cos is right. Um, Garth, you're a good friend and all but you are um again using Legion resources for Wrok Foce work, and that is unacceptable." Lightning Lad nods slowly, eyeing first Rokk, then Brainy. "Yeah. Right. Okay." Rokk Krinn grins, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, Garth - I just happen to be in the mood for a joyride. Good thing I'm off duty, right?" He stuffs his hands in his pockets, starting to head for the cruiser. Lightning Lad folds his arms across his chest. Lightning Lad uhhs... Brainiac 5 says "So, rokk? you're going for a ride? Not to Takron Galtros?" Rokk Krinn clears his throat, stressing it in his repetition: "It's -great- to go places on my -day off-, you know? If I stayed in Metropolis the whole time, I'd go nuts!" He glances at Brainy, shrugging. "I'm going wherever Garth's driving." Rokk Krinn lightly kicks Garth, raising his eyebrows. Brainiac 5 taps his com. "Brainaic here. Can you get us a pass to visit Takron Galtros." Lightning Lad uhhs, then grins stupidly. He takles a swipe at Rokk's shoulder. "Nasshead." Lightning Lad heads for the Leland-1. Leland-1 The interior of the cruiser is comfortable yet functional, ideal for interplanetary travel. Two seats comprise the cockpit, with a slew of monitor stations available for communications and science duties. The nose of the craft is capable of accomodating approximately 12 WorkForcers. The ship expands to the rear, providing access to a few bunks, a medi-station, a holding cell, a storage area, and a washroom. In the cockpit, the 'cmd' panel glows a dim green. Rokk Krinn laughs, buckling in. "Hey, gotta cover all bases, y'know..." Brainiac 5 cycles in through the airlock. Lightning Lad shakes his head. "You are such a weird one sometimes..." He takes the helm, buckling in. As Brainy enters, the ship lifts off before the Coluan's buckle is strapped on... The cruiser kicks into high gear! Lightning Lad pilots the WorkForce Cruiser. Sky Over Southeast Metropolis The morning light creates shadows reaching to the northwest, and the city sounds echo throughout. The skies are partially covered with clouds, but the temperatures and winds are normal for the time of year. This area over Metropolis gives you a view of the stately residences of Embassy Row, the thrills of Exhibition Square, the suburban life of the South Shore, and the gleaming Legion of Super-Heroes HQ in Weisinger Plaza. You climb up, arriving in the Sky over North America. Sky over North America You're in the air over the eastern seaboard of the North American continent, somewhere between Miami and Metropolis. The view up here is breathtaking, especially at night. You fly upwards, arriving in the... Upper Atmosphere - Earth From this vantage point, just under the weather control satellites and orbiting machinery, the majesty or Earth spreads out below you. Continents float like little islands in the great oceans, and banks of clouds drift happily underneath you, obscuring parts of the marvelous planet from your view. Brainiac 5 stumbles backward. "Garth!" You fly upward into Space. Quadrant 1 - Space The cold darkness of space is dotted by the innumerable points of light in all directions. This quadrant of space is the busiest in the United Planets, with large freight transports, commercial cruisers and small personal cruisers passing along designated spaceways. Stargates to other quadrants are accessible by most ships. You pass through the stargate, quickly arriving in... Quadrant 2 - Space The cold darkness of space is dotted by the innumerable points of light in all directions. This quadrant of space is another hub of industrial traffic, especially in private industry. Stargates to other quadrants are accessible by most ships. You pass through the stargate, quickly arriving in... Quadrant 3 - Space The cold darkness of space is dotted by the innumerable points of light in all directions. This quadrant of space is the least travelled, as it is located furthest from the birthplace of the United Planets. These spaceways can seem desolate and dangerous. Stargates to other quadrants are accessible by most ships. Brainiac 5 says "Grife Garth..." You pass through the stargate, quickly arriving in... Quadrant 4 - Space The cold darkness of space is dotted by the innumerable points of light in all directions. This quadrant of space is home to several key installations of the United Planets, some of which are clasified as top secret. Stargates to other quadrants are accessible by most ships. You fly your ship through the hangar bay doors and arrive inside the Takron-Galtos prison planet. Hangar Bay - Takron-Galtos This large and lofty area houses the prison's aircraft and other vehicles. Right now it is relatively empty, with only a lone prisoner ferry being parked off in the far servicing corner. The room itself is divided into functional areas: A servicing area, complete with robo-mechanics and the necessary equipment, a small control room, shielded from the rest of the bay, and the actual take-off/receiving/parking area. Several security drones float about the room, patrolling for any signs of danger or trouble. Brainiac 5 quickly puts his seat belt on. Lightning Lad grins sideways at Cos. "Okay, boys, time to unbuckle... hope you liked the ride." Brainiac 5 passes Garth his Omni. "There's a pass on this." Rokk Krinn stifles a laugh, unbuckling. He glances at Brainy. "Gotta be a little quicker than that, Mr. Dox," he teases. Lightning Lad unbuckles and stands. "That wasn't so bad, was it Cos?" Rokk Krinn looks entirely too innocent. "Did I ever imply it would be?" Brainiac 5 says "I will be quicker azs soon as Garth becomes responsible>" Lightning Lad takes the omni, nodding to Brainy. "Thanks." He ducks out the airlock. Rokk Krinn observes, "Too easy to comment on." He follows Garth. Brainiac 5 exits the Leland-1 through the airlock. Lightning Lad exits the Leland-1 through the airlock. Lightning Lad stretches, cracking his back as the guard completes the security check. "Okay, guys. We're cleared." Brainiac 5 crosses his arms. Lightning Lad walks through the doors to the Cell Bay 1 - Takron-Galtos and leaves. Cell Bay 1 - Takron-Galtos As you enter this room, you notice one thing: Cells. Ahead of you is a long hallway, four meters wide, flanked by cell after cell of criminals. A sign above you spells out 'normal security', which makes you breathe a small sigh of relief. At the end of this long hallway is a door with a medical symbol on it. You also notice that, unlike many other prisons, this level's ceiling does not let you view what's in the level above. Lightning Lad says "They said we needed to head deeper inside... to the Meta-section." Rokk Krinn nods. "Lay on, Macduff." Lightning Lad nods, grinning. Grav Shaft - Takron-Galtos This cyndrilical grav shaft is the main way to get from level to level in the prison. A small touchpad controls the lift, and you can see a small directory right above it. The car is large enough to fit 8 people comfortably. Brainiac 5 comes through the doors leading out from the Cell Bay 1 - Takron-Galtos. Cell Bay 4 - Takron-Galtos You notice a sign above, reading 'META SECTION', and that this cell bay differs quite a bit from its counterparts on the levels below. Instead of a long hallway flanked by cells, this room is a wider, shorter hallway, with single occupant cells specifically designed to hold its prisoner. The walls between cells are thicker, the security forcefields are three times as strong, and each cell has its own defense mechanisms, allowing its occupant to be gassed, stunned, or otherwise incapactiated should he or she try to escape. Each cell also has a direct holo-link to it, for constant supervision. Double blast doors open into this area instead of the common double doors of the other cell bays. In other words, if these crooks get out, you'd best run. Lightning Lad gulps as he enters the cell-block. The guard double-checks their security passes. Rokk Krinn is just - there. Following Garth silently, look of calm confidence everpresent on his face if his friend should look back. Reasyn is being escorted back into her cell by a guard. She frowns as she sees the Legionnaires, then spies an omnicom resting loosely in Garth's hands. Nara Minsork looks up at the newcomers... she sighs, then looks back down at her feet. Oh, the humanity...sorry, Rokk just doesn't have a lot of sympathy for these folks. They've caused a -lot- of problems for the Legion. Lightning Lad spies Mekt at the far end of the corridor, and rushes past Reasyn and her guard... Reasyn snags the omni with a quick snatch, then starts cackling evilly! Reasyn punches at the 'com madly, her face lighting up with a maliscious intent. Lightning Lad turns, "What...?" Minsork's forcefield comes down. Rokk Krinn clears his throat. "Garth? I think we're in trouble," he says rather unnecessarily, then attempts to wrench the omni away magnetically. Reasyn's escort struggles with the Coluan. Reasyn growls as the omnicom is pulled from her grasp. She stops in her tracks suddenly, her pale eyes going distant and her mouth opening and closing as if she were trying to say something. Brainiac 5 reaches for the Omni-com Holding a hand up like a baseball glove, Cos snags the omni from midair and squints at Reasyn, trying to figure out what the heck she thinks she's doing. He glances down at the omni, wondering if what she was up to is still on the screen. Brainiac 5 leans over Rokk's shoulder Rokk Krinn acks. "Quit breathing down my neck!" Minsork steps outside of her cell, her face obviously focused on using her telepathic abilities. "She fritzed out my dampening-collar a couple days ago. She's crazy, you know. She would kill you all if she could." Brainiac 5 narrows his eyes. "It's mu Omni. I was only trying to help." Lightning Lad looks over at the action. "Uhh..." Rokk Krinn shrugs, and hands Brainy the omnicom. "Then here, be my guest." He puts his hands in his pockets and looks at Minsork. "'Zat so? Then it's a good thing you've got a vise on her brain, isn't it?" Brainiac 5 says "Cos, I didn;t mean anything. I'll check this out." Minsork looks at Reasyn, and frowns. The young female Coluan falls to the floor, unconscious. "And she has some materials in her cell you'll want to confiscate." Rokk Krinn glances at Garth, his look saying, are you -hearing- this? Or am I hallucinating? What the nass is this woman up to? Lightning Lad uhhs, shrugging to Cos. "Um. Thanks." Rokk Krinn pauses. "I...Garth?" He gets this horrible idea, see...and it's showing in his eyes. Minsork looks to the floor, "It was never supposed to happen like this. It just... ran amok." She turns to face Garth, "And I'm sorry about your brother. He's also very... unstable. Although you couldn't tell it by looking at him now." Rokk Krinn starts backing toward the door, eyes wide, watching Garth and Minsork. "Brainy? I think we'd better go..." Lightning Lad looks from Nara to Rokk to Brain to Mekt, then back to Minsork. "What do you say, Rokk?" Brainiac 5 is looking at his Omni. "I am not Brainy." Brainiac 5 says "I mean I am not called Brainy." Rokk Krinn honestly doesn't have the patience for semantics. "Then you can sprocking well stay here," he says in a low voice, keeping his attention on Lightning Lad. He stops by the door, face a careful mask. "Please, please forgive me if I'm wrong...but...Garth, are you doing what I think you're doing?" Lightning Lad huhs?! Rokk Krinn closes his eyes, jaw tightening, then opens them again and looks directly into Garth's, detemined. "What - are - you - /thanking/ - me - for?" Brainiac 5 looks at Cos. "Cos. Give this a moment. We're safe enough." Lightning Lad shakes his head, "I wasn't sayin' thanks to you, ya sprockin nasshead! I was sayin' it ta her!" Brainiac 5 says "Garth. Enough with the attitude. Let's go Cos, you;re right."" Rokk Krinn is clearly -really- spooked. "Yeah?" He eyes Minsork. "No offense, but why did your cell door shut off?" He shoots a glare at Brainy. "-You-...don't even have -any- idea what could possibly be going on, do you?!" Brainiac 5 turns his head. "Cos, this isn't like you to be this way. You were rioght let's go, I don't." Minsork returns her gaze to the floor, and steps back into her cell. She shakes her head slowly, "I told you. Reasyn did it. She's the one who kept pushing Ranzz... er, Mekt." Lightning Lad locks eyes with Minsork. "I knew it. He was pushed into it by her, wasn't he? I mean, she used him, right?" Rokk Krinn's eyes narrow again, and he stands by the door, arms crossed. Minsork's going back in her cell - this...doesn't look like what he thought it was. May Valor forgive him...and prevent Garth from interpreting that little outburst. He looks to Brainy. "No." Brainiac 5 turns, "What? What do ytou want me to do>?" Cos says "Do what you want." Minsork resumes her seat in her cell. "No. Your brother is quite mad himself. He has a lot of... unresolved issues." She looks at Garth, then his colleagues. "Reasyn's madness didn't help... it spurred him on to new depths. And I... I didn't stop him. Or her." Lightning Lad looks over at Mekt. He slowly approaches the cell. "Cos. What do I tell my folks?" Rokk Krinn sighs, reaching up to hold the part of his nose between his eyes. He shuts them, too - his eyes, that is - and shakes his head. "I don't think -you- need to tell them anything." As he leans an arm against the forcefield, Garth stares at his brother. "But... I should tell hem something. They need to know that... well, that we know where he is." Brainiac 5 turns to look at the floor. Rokk Krinn says quietly, "You don't think the prison already has? Notified them, I mean..." Lightning Lad pales, "Oh gods... no, you don't think they did that, d'ya?" Rokk Krinn mms, then drops his hand. "You wanna check?" Lightning Lad closes his eyes, quietly saying, "Later. I will. Later. Oh gods... what do I do now?" Lightning Lad sighs, straightening himself and pulling away from Mekt's cell. Rokk Krinn finally says, "Look, Garth...Mekt's actions aren't your fault. Brainiac 5 taps his Omni and takes a seat Lightning Lad says "Ya don't get it... if I'd stuck with finding him, instead of joining the Legion, maybe I could've saved him from doin' all this." Brainiac 5 says "Rokk is right. No Garth. IF Mekt cared about you he wouldn't have put you in danger. He wouldn't have hidden from you." Brainiac 5 says "Logically speaking. I think you know who your real brother is. Who your family is..." Rokk Krinn says shortly, "I doubt it. But I can't argue with you, because you'll just tell me I don't understand and it's not worth telling me anything. So I'll be a good friend and sympathize and let you wallow in self-pity instead of doing what you know is right, and doing what'll help you move forward instead of always looking back in regret." He shoves himself off the wall and hooks his thumbs into his pockets. "What do you want me to tell you? I'll repeat it word for word if you want - just tell me." Lightning Lad shakes his head, "Look, he always was a bit... off. But he never coulda done that stuff if it wasn't for that Coluan chick." Brainiac 5 leans against the wall and turns away, knowing at ths moment he needs tokeep quiet. Lightning Lad starts to snarl back at Rokk, but stops himself. He closes his mouth, turning away. "I... it's just... I just..." Rokk Krinn waits quietly and patiently now - maybe he got through. It looks like he got through. It's up to Garth now. Lightning Lad sighs, "I just want things the way they used to be. Before the WorkForce, before the Legion... before the lightning." Lightning Lad steps towards Minsork's cell, "Thanks." He looks back at mekt's cell, "I guess it really is over then..." Rokk Krinn looks unhappy, not moving from his spot about ten feet away. "It's time to start growing up, Garth...you're already of the age of majority in most of the UP. Things can't just stay the same forever, as much as you want them to - as much as I want them to." He falls silent as his friend thanks the telepath and goes to see his brother once more. Brainiac 5 says "Rokk, Cos, I'm going to wait in the shuttle" Rokk Krinn nods silently to Brainiac 5. Lightning Lad says "Hold on, Brain. I'll head out with you. There's nothing here for me anymore... c'mon, Cos." Brainiac 5 wipes his Omni. Brainiac 5 nods "I'm here," is all Cos says, following. Brainiac 5 says "There's always hope."
