Front Porch Area - Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters The front porch is actually rather large, to protect people while waiting for their vehicles it seems. The wooden roof over it protects people against the elements, while wooden posts are at each corner to hold up the roof. The porch is about 3 feet off of the ground, with concrete formed stairs leading down to the ground. Metal handrails are on either side of the steps, in case the steps are slippery. On the porch, a swing has been set up, as have a couple of folding lawn chairs, so people can relax here without going totally outside. Visitors can either head into the outdoors, or else enter the mansion's entryway from here. The cloying smell of a cigarette wafts faintly from the far side of the front porch, where Vesper's leaning against a post, looking out at the grounds. She turns around when the door opens, and puts it out un the sole of her boot. With a genuine smile, she walks over and holds out her cigaretteless hand. "Hullo!" Sean: He stands a wee shade over six feet tall perhaps, maybe a bit more. His features are soft, and generally made softer by the sparkle you can sometimes see in his blue-green eyes. His reddish-blond locks frame his face, and his smile, which seems to come rather naturally to him. He is dressed fairly casually today, a white turtleneck sweater fits snugly about him, helping to subtly accent his athletic frame. The sweater is pulled down over the waist of his casual black slacks. He has a nice pair of black Italian leather boots on his feet, the legs of his slacks pulled down over them a bit. Over the whole ensemble, he wears a brown leather bomber jacket. Vesper: Vesper's quite tall (somewhere around six feet), definitely well built, and would probably be dazzlingly beautiful if she didn't look quite so odd. Bright green tiger eyes are set in a pale, long face, framed by midnight hair streaked with emerald and deep, deep blue; her lashes are long, and her eyebrows expressive. Wide lips are brazenly decorated with silver lipstick, and a pair of ultrathin wire-rim glasses perch on her straight nose. A jagged white scar mars her high forehead, running from her right eyebrow diagonally up into her hair. The tall girl's clothing is as eccentric as she is - a black tank top with the words 'They Might Be Giants' printed in white across her chest; a pair of extremely faded olive combat fatigues (with way too many pockets, and more than a few patches); a bright green felt overcoat (four sizes too big); rubbed out combat boots with checkered laces. A powerbook is slung over one shoulder, and a black leather belt caresses her hips. Sean opens the door, looking a wee bit tired perhaps, but nothing like he was awakened by the doorbell or anything like that. He regards the young lady for a few moments before she turns around, nodding as she does, "Evnin' lass, welcome to Xavier's. Are ye expected?" he asks, taking the offered hand and shaking it firmly. Vesper grins, taking her hand back clasping them behind her back (and being careful not to drop the remainder of her cigarette). "I'd hope so...otherwise there've been several months worth of paperwork mistakes. I'm Vesper Antagonist? Enrolled for this semester..?" Sean chuckles, cracking a smile, "Well, in that case, Vesper, let this humble lad be the first tae welcome ye to y'r new home away from home .. Sean Cassidy by the way." He offers to take her bags for her and heads back into the house, "I hope ye'll find everything to y'r satisfaction .. sis ye bring y'r acceptance letter?" "Yeah, it's in with my stuff somewhere...I parked my scooter over on the far end of the driveway, is that cool?" Vesper looks curiously around as she enters, wrinkling her nose slightly at the small room. "Oh, I had a question that I kept forgetting to ask...I know this is essentially a high school, but like...how old is the next youngest student? To me, I mean; I assume I'm the oldest." Sean shakes his head, glancing back over his shoulder, "Actually lass, ye're not close tae being the oldest studen at the academy. We're pretty much all students in one way or another. So whyile ye might very well be the oldest of the newer students, there are a few of us with a couple extra years on ye." He grins, heading into the mansion-proper. Vesper blinks, taken aback. "'We'? You're not a teacher?" Then she blushes, realizing her gaffe, and gets noticeably smaller. "Er, I mean...not to say you're old or anything...I mean..." She trails off, then mutters to herself, "Ohh, /shit/." "Well, I do a wee bit of instructin' as well, but I'm also a student here of sorts still." He winks, setting her bags down near the stairs, "Did they happen tae tell ye anything about y'r room assignment or will we just have to wing it?" He shrugs just a bit, looking around the foyer, "Actually, if ye'd like, ye could neet a prospective student." Vesper shakes her head slowly, eyebrows up. "They told me nothing." She wrinkles her nose and makes her way back to six feet, giving the room another once-over, answering at the same time. "Sure, sure. Prospective? I won't scare her off?" Yep, that's definitely a twinkle in her eye. Sean chuckles, "I think she'd do well tae be meetin' a few other mutants like ourselves. She's a wee stubborn lass, so she willna be scared off so easily." He heads towards the formal sitting room, miling over his shoulder, "She should be watchin' a bit of television back through here." Sean wanders back in from the hallway, followed by another young lady. He heads over towards the couch, tapping Jubilee on the shoulder, "Jubilation, lass. I'd like ye tae meet one of the new students here at the academy .. she's just arrived." He smiles, "This is Vesper, Vesper, Jubilee." Jubilee: If you had to sum up in one word what the aire about this teenage girl is, that one world would most deffinatly be Attitude. Blue-black hair hangs down to her jawline, straight save for the slight curl in at the ends, along with her bangs framing her face and light olive complexion. Her blue eyes (occasionally covered by a pair of reflective sun-glasses) have a slightly almond shape to them, hinting at the japanese side of her ethnicity. Below a petit nose rests a pair of full red-painted lips. While her hair is tucked back, one can easily see the series of piercings in her right ear, from the lobes and all up the ridge, ending in a ear-cuff, and two in her left earlobe. Today she's dressed in typical Jubilee style (or lack thereof). Her hot-pink cashmere sweater fits snuggly to her teenage, understated curves, the long sleaves sheltering her long, thin arms from the cold New York weather. Straight-legged blue jeans, starting to fray at the bottoms, follow the gentle slopes of her hips and tapered runners legs to a pair of well worn sneakers. If you really look, you may be able to spot the heart-shaped charm which dangled on the end of her silver belly chain, hidden mostly by the sweater. Her only other jewelry is a silver locket she wears around her neck, oval in shape, with a single rose engraved on the front side. While outside (and sometimes even inside), a yellow trench coat is worn unbuttoned, the collar pulled up, and swirls around her as she walks. Jubilee, having long sence finished inhaling her sandwich and now watching late-night TV, turns her head to look up when she's tapped.. Her eyes turn from Sean to Vesper. "Hey Ves." Vesper raises her eyebrows, a bemused smile on her face. "H'lo, Jube," she says easily, sticking her hands in her pockets. Then she grins outright. "You've a marvelous taste in outerwear." Jubilee's jacket is pulled tight closed and buttoned over her stomach, consealing the bandages around her waist and the bottom of her burned-up sweater. From Ves's view, the sweater and Jube should look in perfect condition. "Thanks." she replies with a grin. Sean chuckles, wandering arund the couch to take a seat, "So, what've we decided tae watch Jubilee?" He takes a seat next to her and motions for Vesper to join them as well if she likes, "Och, Leno?" He reaches for the remote. Vesper glances at Sean, then goes around and plops down on the couch. "Mn. All late-nite TV, unless you can find youreself a movie or an old cartoon, is pretty much on the same level. Good luck." Flipping through the channels (and just how do they get all these channels anyways?), Sean nods towards Vesper a bit absently, "Aye lass, but there's no harm in tryin' .." He does happen to find Cartoon Network, where they're showing Space Ghost. Jubilee oohs and pulls up her legs to her chest, grinning still. "Space Ghost! Halt that remote, Irish!" She glances over at Vesper sideways once, more out of curiousity at the new arrival. Vesper's eyes light up! "Dorkin! Rock!" Giving Jubes an equally surreptitious glance, Vesper tries /not/ to try to sum up the other girl in ten words or less. Now, /there's/ a bad habit. She gestures vaguely at the television, "Everyone likes Space Ghost, but no one's ever heard of the scripter..." Sean tosses the remote back to Jubilee, standing up and heading over towards the phone, "If ye lasses would excuse me for a moment, I need tae make a call." He picks up the reciever and dials up a fairly long number, "Hopefully this willna take me all that long .. so let me know what happens to that wee Zorak fellow.." Vesper glances at Jubes again, raising her eyebrows and jabbing a thumb in Sean's direction, then making a vague, all-encompassing gesture, as if to ask 'So what do you think? Of the place, too?' Jubilee watches Sean head to the phone and giggles some, turning eyes back to the tv set, remote held in the traditional 'ready to click' pose, aimed just right. When she notes Ves's look, she shrugs. I have yet to descide. A smile, however, is put on as she motions with her head to Sean, eyes on Vesper. But I like him. Vesper grins. "Me too," she says out loud, smirking.
