System Shock

Another twist on the hack and slash Doom paragdim is System
Shock, put out by Origin Systems. You're a hacker who performed an
illegal hack into Trioptimum Corporation's computer network; but instead of
spending the rest of your life in jail, a sleazy executive type hires you to
do something even more illegal... hack into SHODAN, the AI
for the company's Citadel Station. In exchange, you get a military-grade
neural link to do with as you wish. However, as you're sleeping off the
discomfort in a 6-month coma, something sinister begins to happen on Citadel.
System Shock is a first-person game with a difference. Not only can you run
around the station, but you can also head into Cyberspace, which you have to
do in order to complete certain tasks.
