RAVEN
played by David Dalgleish
Sorceress From Chaos
True Daughter of Amber
Dworkin's Trump
Backdropped by shafts of sunlight piercing distant
rainclouds, a tall and slender woman stands under a flowering tree. Her
complexion is pale; her charcoal-grey eyes gaze frankly out of the picture.
She is quite attractive, smiling faintly, and seems innocent, her
fine-boned features free from lines of care. She is wearing a snug jacket
and leggings, both of suede-like dove-grey cloth, embroidered with delicate
pale green patterns: lions, eagles, flowers, vines. Her silky, night-black
hair falls softly to her shoulders, framing her oval face. Long bangs are
held out of her eyes by a thin circlet of gold, unadorned save for a single
dependent lens of translucent red crystal, over her left eye. Her left
hand leans against the tree trunk for support; the other is held out, and a
bird-like creature rests upon her upturned wrist. Its head is a fleshless
owl skull; its body that of an owl's, feathered brown and white; and it has
leathery black bat wings. A light rapier is belted at her waist. Black
leather gloves are also tucked into the belt, and she wears supple black
boots. Her Trump conveys the sense of a graceful, serene, inquisitive
young woman."
Within any gathering, there is always one person who tries to speak as the
voice of calm reason. When she is present, that person is often Raven,
which is ironic considering her childhood in the Courts of Chaos. While she
is very young and can be very naive, she possesses an inner strength and
pride in herself which grants her grace and serenity. Hopefully she will
survive through her first century.

Few play the game of Amber as well as Raven. And why not - she was raised by
one of the best players of them all. In public, she renounces her redhead
heritage, perhaps a touch too loudly. Could it be that she is playing good cop
to Fiona's bad? After all, Raven's name is often said in the same breath as
Clarissa and Fiona, and you know what they say about blood...

GM TIPS FOR PLAYING RAVEN
Raven is the daughter of Danton, lord of Chaos, and Fiona, princess of
Amber. She seems to be honourable and serene, perhaps even wise in her own
way, patient and calm even when under extreme stress. She is usually
outgoing and friendly, unless given reason for suspicion. She is not given
to acting without thought, preferring instead to gather information first
so as to make informed decisions. She has yet to show any true darker side
of her personality, though many would believe that one so apparently
innocent must hide some truly terrible secrets within herself.
RAVEN AS MOTHER
Raven has as yet borne no children, but she promises to be a good mother,
since patience and calm are good qualities for raising children. She is
likely to raise her children well away from the games and manipulation of
the Courts, providing them with both love and discipline while protecting
them from the wider threat of the universe until they are old enough to
protect themselves. One can only wonder how much of her calmness and
serenity is a result of her parental influences, and how much is truly hers.
How she reacts to Jade, the 'daughter' built by Jacob out of Paradox, is left to
be seen.
RAVEN AS A PLAYER IN THE GAMES OF PARADOX
Raven has been an active agent in some of the more recent plots in Paradox. She
claims to be nothing like her mother Fiona.
Constant Allies & Enemies
She seems to be on good terms with her aunt Deirdre, and is definitely on
very good terms with her 'cousin' Jacob and his closer relatives, since
they have chosen to marry. She has in the past expressed truly profound
mistrust of her mother, and seems even less thrilled with some other
members of the family, having often referred to the famous double standards
of the royal family of Amber.
RAVEN'S GRIMOIRE
Summon Filmy
This gates in a filmy from the Courts of Chaos, which can be manipulated by
the caster just as a filmy above the Abyss can be manipulated, for
transport or possibly more bizarre uses. When the spell ends, the filmy
simply returns to its point of origin. Since the source of power for
filmies is unknown, it is also possible that this spell could provide
access to an as-yet-unknown source of power.
