From: Louise Subject: Jim Byrnes on War Planets Dave, Thanks for your War Planets info. I'll be doing a page soon on Jim Byrnes' Grand Vizier at the Jim Byrnes Appreciation Place . I noticed, at the Mainframe site, that the main attack ship line for the Planet Fire is called....Inferno! Also, I caught a Beast Wars episode the other day that made me nearly split a gut laughing. You know that Jim Byrnes plays the Blues, and his first album is called Burning and he has a hit song called Junior Burn the House Down, right? Well, in this episode, Black Arachnia asks him, "Well, insect, are you ready to rock and roll?" He replies, "I do not rock and roll! I BUUUUURRRRRRNNNNN!" Oh my! Also, I note that the very aged Grand Vizier walks with a staff, just as Jim Byrnes walks with a cane. Further, whereas Inferno had six legs, the Grand Vizier has six ears. (I earlier found it ironic that Jim Byrnes, with no legs, ends up playing a character with six of them....). He says he is impressed with the art for this show. He also says he enjoys trying to get an Arabic accent into his voice, to match the environment on Planet Fire. Oh yeah, and remember how the spiders on Beast Wars were always calling Inferno 'insect' as an insult? On the first War Planets episode I watched, the Grand Vizier calls the blue ambassador guy 'insect' -- "Where is my Prince, insect!?" Anyway, I love the art and think the premise is interesting. (Oh, and there's not much of note hanging around in the lower right quadrant of the Mainframe pages on War Planets. I don't think you're missing much.) I was in Scotland when the first episode and special aired, and my beloved husband didn't quite get to recording it for me. Ah well, he's nearly perfect, so I can't be too upset. Besides, I enjoyed the heck out of Scotland. Do you know of anyone in animation land who does tape trading and might have it?
