Dave's Exo-Force Deep Jungle Rantlet 8113: Assault Tiger See http://www.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/Lego/ExoforceDJ for general line comments. The code is coming up as invalid, either as EXO703BT or EXO7O3BT (and they REALLY shouldn't be using zero, two or eight given the font choice!). Update 12/27/07: EXO0703BT is the correct code, aha. Thank you, Lego customer service! CAPSULE Big and buff and armed with a massive buzzsaw, dude. The partner robot just sort of tacks on, with a non-stowable primary weapon making the partner's melee weapon mode somewhat unusable. Recommended. $19.99 at TRU, $14.96 at Wal-Mart. Guess where I bought it? :( RANT Making up my own info for some things now, will update if/when I get the proper code. Unit: Assault Tiger Type: Ground Supremacy EXO-FORCE Battle Machine Pilot: Takeshi Pilot Hair Color: Green Main Mecha Colors: Yellow and gray. Weapons: Deforestation Saw, Absolute Zero Cannon, Sonic Rippers (attached to Buzzer), Anti-Armor Missile Official Weapons: Mega-buzzsaw cutter blade, plasma burst cannon, "Tiger's Roar" sonic disruption emitter Partner: Buzzer Partner Code: None (or LambdaG-065) Armor: 16 inches Zaylium Sensors: Enhanced sensor package, Infrared scanner (well, it has a sticker) Power Source: Magnetized Oroniate Unit Designation: L.20 Unit Type: Land Nickname: None Sticker Code: EXO0703BT Bio Note: Takeshi's new battle machine is built just the way he likes them: huge, tough, and almost impossible to knock down. With its heavy armor plating and massive leg stabilizers, the Assault Tiger is a hulking brute of a combat machine, and its adaptive tiger-stripe camouflage lets it blend in with the underbrush of the Sentai Jungle before attacking with its immense diamond-edged cutter blade and disorienting "Tiger's Roar." It's even got a long-range plasma burst cannon that can convert into a buzzsaw-armed mini-robot drone for up-close combat. The only downside? With all of that armor and firepower clanking around, the Assault Tiger is pretty much the loudest thing in the jungle. And that's just how Takeshi likes it, too. Partner Bio (fanfic): If any of the partner drones could be said to copy the personality of its pilot, Buzzer is that drone. Ryo jokes that while the others seem to be showing artificial intelligence, Buzzer demonstrates artificial stupidity (but not while within range of its saws). Buzzer loves to cut things. Anything. Including, sometimes, whatever he happens to be standing on. Oops. Gravity is a harsh mistress. Build Time: Bag 1 makes Takeshi and Buzzer, and requires some piece substitution for the not-included new connectors. Sorting time negligible, build time about 4 minutes build time (slowed a bit by some stickers on Buzzer). Two bags labeled 2, plus some larger loose pieces, make up the main mech. Sort time 6 minutes, build time 19 minutes. Dimensions: 7.5" (19cm) tall at the top of the canopy, 10" (25cm) if you count up to the top of the whip antenna. Big boots, big shoulderpads, giving a greater impression of size and bulk...although the spindly arms kinda run counter to that. Colors: The main armor color is yellow, with brick red appearing only in stickers for the mech proper (although Buzzer has some pieces of that color). The skeleton is mainly gray and black. The canopy is a clear orange, there's a clear blue dish piece, and a couple of clear red accent pieces. Stickers: Mainly yellow and brick red in a pattern that sort of mixes tiger striping with lightning crackles. There's also white on most stickers, and a few have black. Loads of text, I'll list it by sticker number (the stickers are numbered, but annoyingly the instructions don't USE the numbers). 1. L.20, Encoded Recording (for the spy drone, no doubt) 2. Spy Drone, Crystal Recording, AG-065 Field (actually, the A is a capital Lambda), Encrypted Transmitted, Info-X. Also has a picture of a schematic of the spy drone. 3. WARNING: HEAVY DUTY DEFORESTER - LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL LOGGING HAZARD (duuuude) 4. BOOST - Volatile 5. ditto 6. none 7. Japanese translated as Suzaku (Massive Tearing). They don't seem to be using these for nicknames this time out though...it kinda fits here, but Chameleon Hunter's doesn't. It seems to be more of a "primary power" indicator. 8. Danger High-Explosive, LAUNCH 9. Exo-code 10. none 11. none 12. Personal Calibrator, Tiger Charge 13. BOOST Volatile, IR Scanner Articulation: Ball joint shoulders and ankles, Knights Kingdom ratchets on the hips and knees. No elbow articulation, odd for a $15 mech. The left hand has two fingers and a thumb on hinges. Weapons: The right arm ends in a big horkin' buzzsaw blade with a vernier flap as a blade guard. Just free spinning, no gearing. The left arm has a robot-arm-fingered hand wrapped around a what the sticker #8 leads me to believe is a sort of panzerfaust (anti-armor missile). The chest pieces and sticker suggest a chest cannon thing, which I'm calling the Absolute Zero Cannon after Mecha-Godzilla's (Kiryu's) weapon. Flanking the torso are what I'm gonna call IR searchlights for now, although it's possible they're officially weapons. I think the official name of the panzerfaust is "plasma burst cannon", which suggests a lack of communication somewhere. :) The Tiger's Roar is probably the dishes attached to Buzzer. The "IR searchlights" get no mention, nor is there anything likely to map onto the chest array, unless it's supposed to be the Tiger's Roar. Ah well. Other Features: Fully enclosed cockpit. Well, there's some gaps on the sides, but it's still pretty closed. There's a radio whip-antenna on the right shoulder and a clear blue dish on a mast on the left shoulder (probably the IR scanner, to judge by the sticker near it). The boots are HUGE. These are the lower legs of a much bigger mech. Officially combines with the Chameleon Hunter into a bigger bipedal mech that Takeshi gets to drive. Hikaru always loses out when the two have their mechs combine. Oddly, the huge feet of Assault Tiger become mainly a sort of cape decoration for the merged mech, with entirely new legs built from the CH's pieces. Pilot Figure: Takeshi is in brick red with black hands. His chest deco includes some yellow camo mottling to separate it from the Golden City version. He has the usual two faces and spiky green hair. He still doesn't have a wrench, so he's bound to be irritable. However, I checked my baggie of "spare bits" (you know, the extra little connectors or 1x1 bricks that are often left over when you're done, included just in case you lose a tiny piece) and found a robot claw, so that'll do as a wrench substitute. Partner: Buzzer has similar basic design to Longbarrel (River Dragon's partner), notably in the core X-shaped thing and the pieces used for legs. However, he's a bit more complex, and has claw-hands to go with his robot minifig arms. Like Longbarrel, he has a long "tail", but this just acts as a connector, not a weapon barrel. Hinge shoulders, hips and ankles (so the feet can rest flat). The head can turn a little and tip forward (although this is a transformation joint). The wrists swivel. About 6cm tall, in a mix of brick red (arms, leg and foot armor, head, chest armor), black (skeleton), yellow (chest and shoulder innards) and dark gray (shoulder discs, saws). He actually has a sticker face (well, a drone head face). He holds two "ice saw" weapon pieces in his hands. In docked mode, the saws become somewhat awkward melee weapons (given that there's a big main gun poking out of the left hand), and the shoulder discs look to become ray projectors. The instructions don't show the head swinging into new position, but it's clearly implied by the design. You can pull off the panzerfaust and stick it into the back of one of the IR searchlight pegs to store it if you want to make Buzzer's weapon mode more usable, but it's clearly not an intentional design element. Adding a single piece to the back could have made for a more convincing stowage (and I just happened to have a yellow 1x1 clip piece in with my loose Legos, so now it's fixed). Dave Van Domelen, likes to think Takeshi ripped a hand off a robot, said, "Now it's a wrench," and went on with blowing stuff up.
