The Titanium line is part of the Galoob company responsible for
Micromachines, and started with Star Wars toys before expanding into other
Hasbro-owned properties. The 3" figures are somewhat poseable but
non-transforming, while the 6" figures more or less transform (the design
team took a while to get the hang of it). The 3" figures tend to be around
the $5-6 price point, while the 6" figures are around $15-17, depending on
retailer.
3" Figures
Assortment 1 - War Within Optimus Prime, BW
Megatron, G1 Starscream, Unicron, Alternators Side Swipe, Alternators Meister
(called Autobot Jazz), Optimus Primal, Megatron (Cybertron), Autobot Starship
Ark. Shipped in three overlapping waves. Updated 8/4/06 with WW Prime.
Assortment 2 - G1 Optimus Prime, Alternators
Smokescreen, Bumblebee, Scorponok, Grimlock, Predaking. Shipping in
overlapping waves with Assortment 1. As of 10/30/06 the review has all six.
Assortment 3 - G1 "Rodimus" (Targetmaster), G1
Thundercracker (recolor), G1 Galvatron, G1 Battle Damaged Optimus Prime
(recolor). I'm calling this a new assortment because of the shift to
two-figure waves and to using recolors. As of 1/12/07 has all but the Prime
recolor. Which it isn't going to get.
Assortment 4 - AKA Movie Assortment 1. All 2007 Movie
versions: Ironhide, Jazz, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Blackout,
Brawl, Ratchet. Does not seem to include the other two Prime molds from the
Target 3-pack, just an 8-figure assortment.
Wave 1 - War Within Optimus Prime, War Within
inspired Megatron. Significant "breaking in period" flaws, don't get unless
you're good at making repairs or plan to leave them in the box.
Wave 2 - War Within style designs
of Thundercracker and Jetfire. Big improvement over wave 1.
Wave 3 - G1 Scourge and BW Optimal Optimus.
Scourge is pretty good for a shellformer, OpOp is a design that doesn't
translate well to this scale.
Wave 4 - G1 Soundwave and Rodimus Prime.
Rodimus is seriously shortpacked, and Soundwave is seriously a
disappointment. Updated 2/12/07 with Rodimus.
Menasor - Comicon International exclusive redeco of
Rodimus Prime. This is a guest review by Wonkimus Major, since I didn't pick
this up online when it became available.
Wave 5 - War Within Starscream and RiD Optimus
Prime. The inevitable recolors have started, and I didn't buy Starscream, a
recolor of Thundercracker, but I did include his bio note. RiD Prime is
pretty good.
Wave 6 - War Within Fallen and Beast Machines Cheetor.
Fallen looks good but is floppy, Cheetor is solid and show-accurate.
Wave 7 - War Within Megatron and G1 Ultra Magnus.
Updated 8/4/07 with Ultra Magnus.
Wave 8 - Sunstorm and War Within Ultra Magnus. Both are repaints, not
getting even if I see them.
Wave 9 - War Within Prowl and Grimlock, released as
"tail-end charlie" Toys R Us exclusives. Updated 10/26/08 with Grimlock.
Designs for Arcee (G1 car), Cosmos and Shockwave exist, but will not be
made.
