Dave's Transformers Movie Merchandise Rant Optimus Prime Pillow Permalink: http://www.eyrie.org/~dvandom/BW/Movie/PillowPrime I found this while poking around Target.com to see if they had anything new in stock, but it didn't list size. So I found it at the local brick and mortar location, and when I saw it just had to grab it (it also helped that DCPIs showed they still didn't have the G1 Jazz or Starscream exclusives, and I didn't want to come home empty-handed). These are in the bedding section, with other character pillows. CAPSULE Optimus Prime Pillow: Big, and as snuggly as one could expect from a movie design. Recommended for goofy value. $21.99 at Target. RANT Not a whole lot to say about this. I suppose I should lead off by saying it doesn't transform. :) Limbs are easily bendable, but noodly enough that it can't really stand up unless leaned against something with a high coefficient of friction. It's generally a sitting toy. 100% polyester outside and fill, based on the movie Optimus Prime. It's 35" (89cm) tall and more or less "regular" proportions, not superdeformed or anything. Most of it is printed fabric with the relevant patterns on it, although there's a few places here and there with solid colors (dark gray palms, soles and wheel backs, blue knee and shoulder pad backs, light gray shoulder spikes, red forearm armor and fender backing. He has non-stuffed armor panels on the shoulders, forearms, kneepads and the fenders on the sides of the legs. The wheels on his hips and ankles are separate pillow pieces. The forearm armor pieces need a few stitches to secure them better along their length, they flip down over the hands too easily (so time to pull out the sewing kit). The fenders on the shins are a little too likely to puff out due to the wheels attached to 'em, another place where a few extra stitches might be a good idea. There's also a couple of drak gray wheel-like panels on the ankles. Anyway, here's a picture of the thing, you can see how the forearm places sag: http://www.dvandom.com/images/pillowprime.JPG Dave Van Domelen, also got the movie Robot Heroes tonight, will review those later.
