As Coherent Super Stories moves forward, the stories will move backwards,
looking into the First Heroic Age as well.
Ancient
At the moment, no "ancient" First Age art.
Old
As with Second Age, I mined some older but still "modern" pieces for this
era.
- Gauntlet: This version was actually never
given a personality, it was just another Champions powerset experiment. But
I'm basing The Gauntlet in part on this design, so I figured I'd include it
here. 8/2/88 (one of the last pieces I drew before going to college, could
be considered at the border of "ancient" and "old").
- Minuteman: Originally created for a pitch to a small press comic, he got revamped for
inclusion in ASH. His new origin will appear in Coherent Super Stories #9.
Inker in technical pen, colored with bad markers, digitally cleaned up a
bit. 6/29/00.
- Beacon: The star of the Beacon miniseries, as he was during the most
four-color of his adventures. Coiled-spring leg braces and Light Lance at
the ready! Inked in technical pen, colored in a mix of marker and pencil.
5/27/93.
New
Stuff drawn recently, either by me or by other ASH creators.
- Lady Lawful I: Same
image as seen in the Second Age gallery, she kept essentially the same look
through her career. This is a City of Heroes character image, by Andy
Burton.
- Johnny Angel - Design sketch. Character
referenced in Beacon #4. Became Hellbound in the Third Age, but my drawing
of him is so lazy and bad-for-the-time I'm not scanning it. Sketch done
9/13/07.
- The Gauntlet - Design sketch. My fourth or
fifth re-imagining of the basic concept, taking the color scheme of the 1988
version (an a later 1992 version) and merging it with Beacon's armor. There
is a reason his armor is a lot like Beacon's.... Sketch done 9/13/07.
- Centurion - Design sketch. Note, there was a
Centurion in the Third Age, but he had no connection to the First Age
version, so I'm not including him in the Old Art section above. Sketch done
9/13/07.
- The Freedom Alliance - The premiere team
of mysterymen during the First Heroic Age! Done in the style of the Invaders
comic art in the 1970s (pseudo-Kirby, such as Frank Robbins), with
deliberately flat coloring. Inks only. 9/15/07.
- Red Widow - A very minor mysterywoman active for
about three months in 1944. No powers, just rope tricks, a pistol and some
athletic prowess. 10/21/07.
