---- Recall start ---- The Village, perhaps the singular most personality filled area of Manhattan, it comprises the areas of NYU, it's dormitories and part of Columbia University as well. Famous streets such as LaGuardia, Bleeker and Prince, wrap around such areas as Washington Square park, where artists and musicians, perform for handouts, and hope to be discovered. The entire area seems pledged to the promotion of unique personalities. A huge number of clubs, resturants, outdoor sidewalk cafes, novelty stores, brick townhouses and art studios flesh out the most often visited area of NYC by tourists. Greenwich Village is one of the reason New York is called the city that never sleeps, and more underground bars and clubs, meeting even the most bizzare tastes can be found, day or night. Impulse says, "Here's fine. ;)" June says, "Okay :)" [June looked at you.] Impulse says, "You wanna start? And - I'm sticking this, continuitywise, before Zauriel took me off to his Aerie..." Impulse says, "Only problem is, that means I can't speak English. ;)" June says, "S'fine by me .. I have no continuity :)" June says, "Ah! Oh-kay .. :)" Impulse giggles. June whoos :) Impulse says, "Do you want me to do it like in the comics, where what I say is 'translated' and between brackets? Or use the scramble function?" June says, "I don't mind in the slightest .. brackets, perhaps, and I'll fail to understand?" Impulse says, "Okay. ;)" June huddles in her blanket in a little niche between two buildings, bright eyes looking out onto the world as it passes her by, peeping out from the face that appears out of the grey woollen folds. Her gaze tends to pick someone up as they come around the far corner and then watch them all the way along the street before they disappear, then pick up someone else .. and so on. A very calm, languid kind of late morning it is for her. All of a sudden, there's the sort of stiff wind that steals hats and umbrellas and ruins perfect hairdos, and leaves people with their eyes wide, wondering where it came from. Almost like an invisible helicopter decided to land ten feet away...but then it's gone. It will almost definitely have completely blown back the blanket if it weren't held down tightly. Impulse says, "Ah...wasn't." June flails wildly a moment as her blanket begins to flap, followed by a very undignified series of hops down the sidewalk as the blanket catches the wind like an ungainly parachute, hauling her out of her niche and taking her a good twenty yards down the street in huge blanket-aided leaps! Finally getting the affair under control again she swirls the blanket around her in practised fashion even as the last of the wind swirls around, and looks for a new huddling-place. And quite as suddenly as it'd introduced itself, the wind comes back for a second visit -- depositing a very oddly-dressed kid with really big feet and very unruly hair. There's a funny-shaped pair of goggles hanging down his back, too -- he reaches out with an apologetic look on his face. "Sor-ree! " June has another flailing moment, the blanket swirling around wildly, but this time she's prepared and managed to hold on. The bright eyes blink, then stare as it becomes really quite obvious that this isn't someone who did the normal traverse from one end of the road to the other! June doesn't offer a hand in return to yours, but gives a little grin and murmurs "If y'sorry that does fo' me, like. I ain't understandin' th'rest, though - y'ain't from here, right?" Ooh, whew, she doesn't look upset. A grin, even. Out young speedster returns it, and nods to the question - it sounded like it expected a yes. He raises his eyebrows and points a thumb to his chest - it worked with Alex Elder, so it should work here, too. "Bart!" Then he points to you and looks expectant. All the while, he's walking slowly backwards, toward where the girl had originally been huddled. June shuffles slowly out of her new niche, the better to watch Bart's slow retreat, much happier watching this kind of slow movement than trying to come to terms with wild whirlwinds and sudden appearances from thin air! A moment is taken to assess whether 'Bart' is a word in a strange language or a name, the latter seeming by far the more probable. So "June!" is returned, accompanied by another little shuffle that leaves her sitting with her back against a post-box and looking on with interest at the retreat. From afar, Diva waves. Hi. :) "This is Emily, v2. I'm dumping the original because it's impossible to pass her without so many modifications." Grinning quickly again, with a visible blink, Bart nods. "June." Stopping in front of the original niche, he glances in - did she leave anything there she wants to bring with her? Hand against the wall of one of the surrounding buildings, he glances back up and over at June, once more questioningly. He points into the niche. Long distance to Diva: Impulse giggles. Nice name. You paged Diva with 'Didja app yet?'. June's brow puckers slightly in confusion, thinking that Bart wants to if she was the girl who was sitting there earlier. So she nods, waving a hand around under the blanket a little as she searches for some way to express what she was was doing. In the end she just mimes watching someone walk along the road, not terribly sure it'll make her activity clear. Huh? (Type "help" for help.) You paged June with 'Would there be anything in there? Paper or anything else?'. June pages: There might be an old sheet of badly creased and damaged paper, but no more. June has her entire worldly weath in her bag over her shoulder! You paged June with 'Ohhh, okay. ;)'. From afar, June hmms. There might be a half folded model .. From afar, Diva hasn't no. "I still have a couple more pages to go for my background." June pages: She did get hauled up from her seat rally rather fast, you know. June pages: Just a bit of paper, very neatly folded but still very flat. Possibly looking something like a cat in shape. Straightening with a puzzled look, the kid scratches his nose. He bends down again, squinting into the dark little enclosure - then - there! Head, shoulders, and arm disappearing between the buildings, it's only a second before he comes back up with a flat, folded piece of paper. You can hardly blame Bart for looking a bit triumphant; he /found/ something! Zipping back to June, he holds it out to her. From afar, Diva is also going to try to get a couple of people to look at her app first to see if they spot anything wrong before applying in order to minimize getting rejected again. :P Long distance to Diva: Impulse nodnods, good idear. June's mouth opens in a pleased 'ooh' as she sees the bit of folded paper Bart found. Her hand still covered by the blanket she takes the little scrap, holding it through the wool-cloth and turning it over a couple of times. Then she nods, pulling it under the blanket and smiling a smile which is intended to imply thanks. Tilting her head to one side, she very slowly tries "Who .. are .. you?", looking directly to Bart and tilting her head to one side to try and emphasise the question. Impulse shrugs slightly and looks apologetic. "Bart?" he offers, wondering if it's good enough. "Bart /Allen/," he adds. After a little flurry of motion, he's sitting on the ground across from the girl - but then he pauses with a frown and looks down; his stomach's growling. It's like he flickers - then he's holding a couple of frankfurters and stuffing one in his mouth. He offers the other to June. Diva pages: Of course I think I might have a hard time because I put too much stuff into my app. :P Long distance to Diva: Impulse giggles. You paged Diva with 'Wellll...'. Diva pages: But people could avoid my background, my background (while I think it's the best written part) never has too much of a problem in app. It's my power usually. :P You paged Diva with 'As long as the number of flaws matches (roughly) the number of powers/skills, and your skills/specials match your BG and your pers matches your powers, you should be good. ;)'. June's eyebrows crank up another little bit as once more this fellow seems to work some kind of magic! What with the costume and the 'making things from nothing' she forms the working hypothesis that she's dealing with a conjurer, but a rather good one if food is on offer. Very tentatively she slips a hand out from under the blanket to take the proffered frankfurter, giving away the severe hand-deformity she has. From afar, Diva has 3 pages of flaws versus 7 pages of powers, although her flaws, overall, are more significant. :P Long distance to Diva: Impulse grins. Oho - that's one that hasn't really been thought of yet: someone who has superspeed taking a job as a stage magician. What a marvelous idea! Really too bad it can't be communicated; Bart getting a job would be good. He doesn't even notice June's hand - after all, he grew up in a century where even on Earth, the population was about fifty percent extraterrestrial. Not only that, he lived in virtual reality for most of it. So. He just goes about finishing off his hot dog. "Yum," he says, satisfied. June pages: Someone mentioned comics on #foad, I think ;) June finishes her own frankfurter in fairly short shift too, wolfing it down quicktime as her hunger gets the better of her. Deciding to have one more go at the speech 'thing', she tries "You .. are .. a .. magician?", miming waving her hand around with a wand and producing an imaginary rabbit out of a hat. Not really having a point of reference for that, Bart just looks kind of blank, then shrugs with another grin. "Sorry, no English, me. Interlac! Flash, " June says, "Sorry - had tutor visit .. back!" Impulse says, "NP! :)" June opens her eyes a little wider as it dawns on her that this funny fellow is talking with reference to English but not quite understanding it. She wrinkles her nose, listening carefully, and manages to pick one word out from the melange. "Flash?" she asks, looking more closely at Impulse's costume. "Flash!" she then exclaims, waving at him in general, moving a hand quickly from side to side and making swooshing noises as she raises a questioning eyebrow. Impulse starts laughing - can't help it. People going 'swoosh!' will do that to a guy. He nods! and is suddenly standing ten feet away, then is back again. "Flash!" he says happily, plopping back on the ground. "" His voice sounds urgent. June looks most impressed by sudden show of speed, magic , or whatever, clapping her disfigured hands delightedly! She puckers her eyebrows again, trawling back to a previous sentence. "You" (she points to Impulse, then mimes sound coming from her mouth) "Interlac. I" (she points to herself, shakes her finger fom side to side as if to say 'no') "not Interlac. English". Impulse nods, a rueful look on his face. He crosses his arms, reaching up to tap his chin with one of 'em. Hmmmm. "Who Flash?" he tries, then shakes his head! "Where! Where Flash?" he asks hopefully. Do you know where he can find Flash?, he's askin'. June has to recon .. ick .. half a mo. Sorry. June has disconnected. June has connected. June says, "Sorry about that. Problems with the.earth." June says, "Is there any chance you could repose?" Impulse says, "Suer!" Impulse nods, a rueful look on his face. He crosses his arms, reaching up to tap his chin with one of 'em. Hmmmm. "Who Flash?" he tries, then shakes his head! "Where! Where Flash?" he asks hopefully. Do you know where he can find Flash?, he's askin'. June brightens a moment, and then sits back again, raising her hands in a gesture of 'I don June brightens a moment, and then sits back again, raising her hands in a gesture of 'I don't know'. She points to her own clothes, drab street-garb, and then to Impulse's bright costume, saying "Flash .. June .. different". Impulse seems to sort of understand. But honestly - physical appearance means little to nothing to him. He tried to make friends with /Stryfe/, for cryin' out loud. If there's anyone who looks more villainous...it's probably Sinister. But yeah, okay. He deflates a little...but holds out a hand again and tries his other word on June. "Friend?" June is, on the other other hand, very much brought up with physical appearance mattering - it's one of the things that put her on the street, after all! The magic word really does make a difference though, June smiling brightly and venturing out her hand as she replies "Yes, friend!", nodding as positively as she an to back up the statement. Impulse grins! and lightly squeezes June's hand. Then he stands and looks apologetic again. "Flash," he repeats, pointing away, then gesturing vaguely. To be positive the girl understands his intent, he adds a "Where." and gestures again. Then he waves! and is gone in another gust of wind. Impulse is starting to fall over...I've got to sleep. <:) June says, "Okay :) See you later perhaps?" June huddles back down in her blanket, confused but amused! June sorries for my very scatty presence there .. June thanks you muchly for the scene too :) Impulse says, "It's okay. :) And yes! I'll be back online around 11 PM." Impulse says, "No no -- thank *you* Scenes with you always somehow make me feel better. <:)" June says, "Ooh .. good! Let's do more then :)" Impulse okayse. :):) Impulse collapses now! ---- Recall end ----
