From: panderso@citidas.triop.com To: mom@nothingbutflowers.com Date: 5.Mar.71 Subject: How I'm doing... Hiiii... I know it's been a long time since I wrote last, but there's been so much stuff I've been doing here that I haven't had -time- to write! I came aboard with the initial wave of staffers just like you wanted me to when the opportunity came, and I've been working hard in the Medical section, helping repair injuries and serving as a counselor of sorts. I'm kinda concerned 'cause there seems to be the occasional accident on some of the decks where other people work, but everybody in medical is -really- dedicated to their work. Even the coroner! Fortunately, only one or two people have died... and at least the bodies are being saved for proper burial. Oh, and I wish you could see the Groves here... it's nothing like back home, of course, and really it's more like a walled park with a skylight over it, but the view of Saturn from them is something that just -has- to be seen. I hope you can come and visit here someday. And I'm still trying to get more plants planted elsewhere in the station. That'll help improve things more. Can never go wrong with plants. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon! All my love... --- Irpeel === From: bscheurs@security.citidas.triop.com To: tmperez@bebop.dcl.uiuc.edu Date: 5.Mar.71 Subject: interior decoration Dearest Tina, Looks like my quarters have gotten a little more livable. There's a lady who works in the medical section, Penny Anderson, and she is seriously hardcore into plants and flowers. She's been putting more greenery around the station whenever and wherever she can. Anyway, she was passing by my quarters one day and noticed I had nothing but pictures of you in there (*wg*), so now I've got some potted plants to take care of when I'm not keeping the station safe from hideous aliens and the like. She's really nice; I think you'd like her. Don't think she's too fond of all the technology people around here, though. Can't say as I blame her: sure I like tech but I try to be moderate about it. Some of these guys are getting a little too detached from Earth and acting all superior, especially that Harlan Masters character in my division. Man, that guy makes me nervous sometimes, I think he's an accident waiting to happen, if you know what I mean. :P --Bri. === From: tmperez@bebop.dcl.uiuc.edu To: bscheurs@security.citidas.triop.com Date: 9.Mar.71 Subject: Mmmm....job hunting.... Hi, Sweetie! Glad to hear from you again (kiss kiss). I'm glad to hear that someone's helping your state of living arrangements (and that the emailed .jpgs got to you all right. *^-^*). She sounds really cool...which sort of helps offbalance the really creepy kinds (That Masters guy) you apparently have to deal with. Yeesh, I think being stuck out that far would give me serious cabin fever, not a superiority complex...they need a shrink. Oh! And guess what. Guess *where* I put in a resume' to earlier today? If I'm lucky, I can get an internship with TriOp this summer. If I'm *really* lucky, I might get to have it out in Citidas! Wouldn't *that* be a nice little posting... (wink wink nudge nudge) We'll see...I'm no slouch in my field, so hey, it's worth a shot....if it means I get to be with you again, Bri... I have to bomb off now, homework awaits, whee... Love and OXOXOXOXOX, Tina P.S. Ask for some ivy or pothos, they usually stand up to interior lighting well, though I think this Penny knows what she's about! <<<***LIGHTNING DECRYPTION***>>> What do you mean accident waiting to happen, Ian? This Masters guy gives me the creeps even in desc. I mean, it's probably assuming way too much. He's likely just some freaky weird doof human, but.... Well, there's that "But." Hellborn reflexes coming into play. Take care, love you. I think I can get the lower-level Gamma Quad access door up and running again with minimum fuss. I'll let you know when I'm finished. === From: lkalerin@citidas.triop.com To: bmerril@citidas.triop.com , jstevens@citidas.triop.com Date: 18.Mar.71 Subject: Engineering core Habor, Zobalink, in case either of you happen to be up in the Engineering Level, DON'T use the Gamma Quad Engineering Core access doors, either the lower or upper levels. They may look repaired, but if somebody tries to use 'em at an inopportune time, they'll either lock shut and shut down, or close -while the person's still walking through-. I know neither of you care 'bout any humans who might get sliced in half, but I figure you'd want to keep your own vessels intact. Now I'm going to start seeing what I can do about all those retractible catwalk bridges the station uses... and I need to get another terminal, this one's housing is starting to crack. -B.
