With reassurances from Diego that 'his' mutagen experiments have been
successfully covered up, we have continued work with Drs Holmehurst
and Bichenbach on the airborne-carried mutagen. While this delivery
vector appears to be unstable, leading to quick degridation of the
viral toxins, it is believed in time that this system will improve.
In the interim, syringe-injected dosages work just as well.

Diego continues to be overbearingly confident that 'his' cover-up has
been successful in avoiding the mortal authorities.  When I pressed him
further for information, he just grinned, winked, and commented that
"I've got friends in high places, don't worry about it."  I did not
press him further on ths subject, however I do believe that his
further usefulness as a cover for our experiments is coming to an end.

In light of this, Chesil, Paran, I will need you to further double-check
our computer security, as well as the accesses to our doors.  Take
Sonnieth under our ageis if necessary, despite her involvement in
Aram's "Dimensional Gate" project.  I have noticed some creeping
errors in some of the genetic processing computer subsystems, and they
need to be addressed as soon as possible.

Subject: Situational Awareness

The current situation is intolerable.  Our efforts here have been
thwarted due to the lackadasical and shoddy efforts of Aram, Balseraph
of Technology.  This must not be allowed to continue; we will be able
to recoup our temporary losses, but we need to meet in person to
discuss the current state of affairs with our reluctantly chosen
associates.  The recent incedent has made the humans more wary and
suspicious of other possible factions on the station, and we must do
the same.  Although the likelyhood of discovery is minimal, we must
still take precautions to prevent untoward investigation by human or
angelic individuals.  Hamster, if it is at all possible to
inconvenience Aram during his incarceration, do so; those under
Technology's ageis must learn that the Void is a Word to be feared and
respected, not dismissed.

Well, the maint-bots have been set to repairing the damage from the
explosion on Science Level, just like you asked.  Man, I still can't
believe that it happened.  Still, the 'bots have worked 24/7 at clearing
away the debris, and they've started recycling and rebuilding what's
left.  Though, they seem to be malfunctioning -- I don't recall some of
these additions to the plans.  Abe, did you authorize this?

Subject: Official Response for the Citidas Station Incedent on 07/15/2071

FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

On July 15, 2071, there was an accidental detonation of illegally
assembled equipment on the Science Level of Citidas Station,
engineered by Abraham Nelson, Director of Gravity Research for TriOp
on the station.  Three people were killed, and many more were severely
injured.  Further evidence collected points to the fact that
Dr. Nelson had been working on his experiments since the beginning of
his time aboard the station, as well as accepting payments from other
corporations for doing development on company time.

In light of this incedent on the part of Director Nelson, and the
severity of the damage caused due to his illegal experimentation,
Dr. Nelson is to be shipped to Rhadymanthys Station on July 22, 2071
for immediate trial by TriOp's Internal Affairs Office for Gross
Negligence, Accepting Bribes, and Involuntary Manslaughter.  It should
not be necessary to involve InterSpace's Corporate Oversight Board for
this matter.

We express our deepest condolences to the families of Lorie Altison,
Tyrone Lawson, and Chris Phipps for their unfortunate losses.  We also
apologize to Sandra Rawlins, Carl Robinson, and others for the
insufficent precautions that should have caught Dr. Nelson's errancy
in time, and we extend our best wishes for their speedy recovery in
our medical wards.

Subject: Purchase Order

I had SHODAN compile all the purchase orders from the various
departments heads, Greg, in preparation for transmission to
Rhadymanthys for our next supply run.  Given the accident last week,
it doesn't hurt to plan ahead, and clearly other departments think the
same thing.  We'll have enough space for everything that's been
requested, but I've just gotta wonder what some of these departments
are asking for.  Maintenance and Engineering have requested extra
emergency supplies and repair equipment, Science has put in an order
for more biohazard stuff, and Security's looking for some extra
'pacification' equipment.  Which is all well and good, but I don't
think the Food Services devision needs 40 new serv-bots, and I doubt
that Engineering needs 20 new autowelders.  But hey, what do I know?

I've attached the consolidated purchase order to this message so that
you can give it a once-over before it gets approved.  Let me know what
you think, all right?  By the time the cargo ship gets to Jupiter the
supply division there should have everything ready to go.

Subject: Incident report, 2071.07.25

At approximately 14:34 onboard TriOp Freight Shuttle 173-24, Pilot
Samuels noted an anomaly in Cargo 2.0.1, which this officer and
Officer Naismith were dispatched to investigate.  Subsequent
investigation of the aforementioned cargo hold revealed no indication
of trouble, however on attempting to contact Pilot Samuels for
clarification, communications were silent.

On returning to the bridge, this officer was shot in the shoulder by
detainee Abraham Nelson, who had somehow escaped and commandeered
Samuels' weapon.  He fled and fired several shots as we pursued,
compelling us to return fire for the safety of the vessel and its
crew.  Nelson was wounded and disarmed as a result, although he
continued to elude physical capture.  Nelson subsequently threw
himself into Airlock 2 and, before we were able to take further
action, spaced himself.
 
This officer and Officer Naismith hereby accept full responsibility
for leaving detainee Nelson unattended.  We can only speculate on
motive for Nelson's actions, however given Nelson's involvement in
prior incidents on Citidas Station, it is possible that his position
was a cover for possible terrorist activity, or corporate
espionage/sabotage activity.  What Nelson hoped to accomplish with an
attempted hijack of the shuttle is unclear, though sabotage may have
been a possible motive.

This officer must restate that the above is only speculation on his
part.  The following clear facts -can- be presented, however: At the
time of this incident, detainee Nelson was clearly delusional and
acting in an irrational manner, and presented a clear and immediate
threat to the safety of the vessel and its crew.  We acted to the best
of our ability to prevent further damage.  This officer regrets the
loss of detainee Nelson and accepts full responsibility for his
involvement in this incident, and awaits further orders.

Lord Commander, Most Holy of Saturn:
 
Between the Virtue Ian of Lightning and myself, we have used the
opportunity to obliterate the Balseraph of Technology while in transit
to Jupiter, with hopefully little or no damage to our Roles.  The
Serpent had resonated Pilot Samuels into allowing him to take his
weapon and lie in wait for us, or perhaps to hijack the shuttle after
he vessel-slew us.  When that failed and we pursued him down the ship,
he had then taken celestial form and attempted to head for the rear of
the shuttle, at which point we managed to destroy him.  It was later
surmised by Ian that the Balseraph had been attempting to get to the
engine rooms, retaking corporeal form and then using a bug in the
computers to cascade the ion engines to a critical failure that would
end up killing everybody on board, putting myself in Trauma, and
destroying both our Roles.  Ian was able to remove the programming
flaw afterwards, which should make things far more safe on board.
 
The Balseraph was obviously a clear and present danger to the lives of
all human personnel on board, and it is with great relief that I can
say that it will no longer be a factor in the future anywhere.
